I went to England twice. Once in 2006, and again in 2007. First time I flew Continental which of course doesn't exist anymore. We flew out of New York. The flight over and back were excellent. No issues on the way back other than I had to unload some stuff from my checked bag as it was over weight. I'd made the mistake of buying a lot of guide books (during a 3 week bus tour), and I ended up having to carry them in my backpack. Not fun. I should have packed them in a box, and shipped them home before leaving the country.

The next year, I flew to Chicago, and met a friend who flew in from Nevada. We flew out Virgin Air to London. We upgraded our seats to their intermediate first-class at our check-in, and were served champagne, etc. We did the same on the way back. The flight itself was great. No problems whatsoever. Haven't really flown anywhere since then, and probably won't. I never enjoyed flying to begin with, and hadn't flown for over 20 years when I took my first overseas trip. Thankfully there were no issues going or coming back home either time.

Have you been overseas before? If not, make sure you bring wash cloths.

P.S. My son has flown to Germany a lot and swears by Lufthansa. It’s the only airline he’ll fly on now.
