Superheroes may have met their greatest adversary Jodie Foster.
The 55-year-old has claimed Comic book movies are ruining cinema.
In an interview with Radio Times Magazine, the actor and director slammed the likes of Marvel and DC production as the cinematic equivalent of fracking.
'Going to the movies has become like a theme park,' she said.
'Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking you get the best return right now but you wreck the earth.'
She continued: 'Its ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world.
The two-time Oscar winner, who directed the likes of Nell, The Beaver, The Brave One and Money Monster, insisted she didn't want to make '$200m movies about superheroes.'
However, she would consider a superhero protagonist if they had 'really complex psychology'.

I did mean “been in”, forgetting for the moment that she produces or directs or whatever.
Point is, you have to go back to her childhood. Hell, I remember seeing the first FreakyFriday in theaters, and we went as a family. Not a lot of family friendly stuff out there. Even some of the hero movies are a little intense, but they’re the best bet
Jodie’s got deep holes on the brain.
That is not El Duderino, or Dude if you’re into the whole brevity thing.
Short attention spans? Goes to motivation, I guess. Robert Rodriguez comes to mind.
Things have been edited on an avid system for some time now. The number of edits and pacing is different from the past.
As there is no one on the left, there is no one on the right...
Don’t know, Scott Bloom is writing the screenplay.
Roosevelt explored the Amazon, Africa, and was a cattle rancher in the Montana midlands.
BIG difference in the quality of men occupying the white house since that time.
What the frack?
It was really TAXI DRIVER that will always be her most famous film. It tied her involuntarily to the shooting of President Reagan by John Hinckley. Hinckley was her obsessed fan and she knew he was weird and lovelorn for her but she did not know that he would resort to such an act. Hinkley saw TAXI DRIVER multiple times and it had a scene of a demented man stalking a presidential candidate.
Today’s “progressives” are just scumbag Communists who have appropriated the name.
The Progressive Party that TR started had some great planks in their platform, like cracking down on crony capitalism and trusts, registering lobbyists, etc. but some real bad ones like Womens Suffrage and direct election of Senators.
All of the progressive Party’s positions were eventually adopted by the Democrat party, TR’s Progressive party disbanded in 1918, later reiterations were the beginning of the CPUSA, which is now in full control of the democrats.
I read Morris’ books, and they were outstanding. While I may not agree with all of T-Rex’s positions, he was an amazing person.
>>>>Jodie Foster?
Was he one of the sons in My Three Sons?<<<<
Haha, you’re bad! But funny.
We went to see that the other night. The entire multiplex was sold out. I was shocked. I hadnt seen that many people/families at the theaters in ages.
I figure I can go on a school night without asking permission.
>>>>Make a movie that doesnt present the middle aged white man appear like a buffoon, predator, or pretty much responsible for every ill in the history of man...and we can talk.<<<<
Excellent point; very well said.
I feel like the Lone Ranger in this thread, because I really like Jody Foster, Since her first movie, which I saw in 1977 or 78: Candleshoe.
She was 13 at the time, I had just bought a VCR (a Beta) and it was the first movie I ever recorded on videotape.
Foster seems to get a lot of flack due to movies I have never seen.
In addition to Candleshoe, the only other Jody Foster movies I remember enjoying and watching multiple times are Silence of the Lambs and Contact.
Smatterofack, I think I will watch Candleshoe while waiting for the New Year. Is can be streamed on Youtube...
Yes, I will check those books out
What she is really decrying, as most Liberals do, is that WE are too stupid to want what SHE wants us to want... what SHE thinks is best, and what is best for us... so she will rant and rave until "change" is made that suits her preferences, and overrides our voting dollars.
(But yes, I would start seeing movies in the theaters once again if they started making intelligent and interesting stories that didn't spoon-feed the viewer, or simply try to "win" with the most and the largest explosions. And yes, I know that I am in the minority, and this does not bother me at all. I certainly will not demand that others bend to my will so as to get my voting dollars. I'll just keep waiting.)
