A French childrens magazine has been withdrawn from newsstands after one of its articles listed Israel along with North Korea as places that were not real countries.
The article in the latest edition of the monthly Youpi magazine, which is aimed at children aged five to eight, caused uproar on social media, with the Israeli ambassador to France saying that she was saying she was shocked and French Jewish groups calling for the magazine to be removed from shops.
The offending article said that there are 197 countries, like France, Algeria or Germany.
There are a few more, but not all other countries in the world agree that they are real countries (for example the State of Israel or North Korea), it stated.
Israeli ambassador Aliza Bin Noun tweeted that she was shocked at this lie taught to children. Such rhetoric can only incite anti-Zionism, which is inseparable from anti-Semitism, as President Macron has reminded us.

Given that most French kids are named Mohammed, the concept probably more accepted than people realize

What right does any entity have of telling Israel what their capital is?
That would be like France telling us that we had no right to call Washington DC our capital.
It makes no sense.

They’re not even saying Israel is a real country, here. Even worse is the comparison with North Korea.

Anyone who thinks that Israel doesn’t have the right to have Jerusalem as their capital, is basically admitting that they don’t think Israel is a “real country.”

You calling the UN legitimate undermines your credibility.

I’ve never heard anyone say that North Korea wasn’t a country.

Well, this is a first. The context of Israel not being a real country is what makes it absurd.

Not to mention, Israel did; the Arabs never did, calling it a “nakba”. Who are you learning history from?

I have multiple Israeli stamps in my passport but I'm not sure I have any from France even though I was more recently in Paris than anywhere in Israel.

Stupid of them to not call North Korea a ‘real country’ - forced them to pull all of their magazines.

I wonder why the French hate Jews? Because they excel at anything that requires an intellect?
