Always go there. That and the Dollar Store.
nvr seen anything like the prices you paid....
My wife is a “shopgoodwill.com” addict. Better than her being hooked on some chi-chi boutique.
Nice. I recently picked up a Sony CD/DVD player with an HDMI output for $4.75. Also found a like new Polk PSW125 powered subwoofer for $50. Going to use that last item to shore up the low end of my Magneplanar 3.7i speakers.
There’s a little thread over at another place:

Yep, 1200 pages of finds, with pics.
Had many great adventures with this kayak.
Nice.
There are some good deals on clothes, too. I’m a fan of the old classic men’s shoe brands, and I found some Allen Edmonds, barely worn, at a Salvation army for $12.50 (retail for $185.00).
Can’t say I ever got anything worth bragging about at a thrift store except years ago I stumbled across some antique handtools and toolchest which I took home, took forever restoring and enjoy showing off.
Grabbed it, paid for it, took it home, and when I opened it up to read it, there was an autograph plate. Yes, it was a signed edition!
We go every weekend to SA, GW, and Waterfront Mission, Catholic, Methodist and others.
Some weeks nada, some bonanza!.......................
One of the more interesting things I saw at Goodwill was stacks of donated toiletries and cleaning supplies, as if Big Lots said “Here, we can’t sell it, you take it.”
I frequent thrift shops, but for clothing and purses. Bigger cities is where you find the great deals like yours. Here in the rural Midwest, you have to go to garage sales for that and it takes plenty of sales to find an amazing item and thats too much time and gas money for me at this point.
With thrift stores and a lot of kids to clothe, the thrill is still there when you find Silver jeans for $19! All my purses come from thrift store or handed down from my generous and shopping is my therapy mom.
It takes some time and some patience, understanding that you cant always find what you want, but I found several pairs of perfectly good jeans and several tops, some of them brand new with tags still on them for $4 each. I also found a brand new Lands End blouse and a very gently worn cashmere cardigan for $2 bucks each.
I moved in September and was looking for a small dining room set, a table and 4 chairs and came across a listing on the Facebook Market Place. I was a little leery at first and a lot of the sellers are 1st come, 1st to pick up gets it, so I missed out on a few sets I was interested in. But then connected with a guy who was selling a brand new table and chairs, just in the style I wanted for $125. I took a friend with me just to be safe but the guy was OK, really nice.
He had purchased the set brand new some months earlier and paid about $400 for it which was what I was seeing the price was for new in stores and on line at sites like Wayfair, but then a friend of his made him a beautiful table and chairs from recycled barn wood so he just wanted to get the other set out of his garage. He was nice enough to hold it for me for a couple of days until I could bring my nephew back to pick it up. When my nephew and I went to pick it up the guy got really chatty though. Not in a bad way. He invited us in and showed us the custom made table and all the renovations hed been doing on the house.
Nice buys!
We found a thrift shop nearby that marks clothing down to 49 cents if it doesn’t sell within a certain timeframe.
Last week we bought an American Eagle jacket, brand new with tags, for 49 cents minus my boyfriend’s Veteran’s discount, which brought the final price down to 37 cents.
Last year I got a new with tags London Fog winter coat for 99 cents at GW.
Have moved a lot and realized packing and moving furniture is more expensive than buying new or used stuff.
Recently donated a house full of furniture & household items to Habitat and believed they would give it to needy families who have experienced losses due to storms, fires and floods. Do they?
Reminds me of a story. Years ago, I went shopping with a neighbor, she bought new, very expensive leather handbags and so I was particularly disgusted when she scraped a $5 tag from a charity shop rug - took it to the cashier and offered her $2. I called her on it and said she should pay the $5. We never spoke again. Theif!!!!!
What do you do with all of the stuff you’ve scored? Like the Sony AV controller set?
Keep? Sell?
We had that same gadget, for our whole house sound system over a DECADE ago! (Maybe you bought our old one :)
My Son gave me an Avirex leather flying jacket that he brought at a thrift store for $15.
re: 32 inch 1080p Samsung Smart TV minus the remote
Check ebay and Amazon. Last year I found an exact replacement remote for the VIZIO TV I bought in 2008. $6.00 and free shipping.

I used to like the thrift/junk stores. Bought a 10” cast iron skillet [looked brand new] in the early 1980s for $2.00.
I did get put out by thrift stores in the early 1990s. Sis and I were at a store in Arlington, TX. I pointed out to her a harshly-used dining table and chairs. The veneer was cracked and peeling and there were chips in the workwork. Thrift Store price tag had it for $109.00.
I pointed to the furniture store across the street. They had the exact same set, new, for $109.00.
