For all you Freepers who may have the inclination to post some remark about hating the NFL .... don't bother. Your comment is not necessary.. This is merely about football, football officiating, and not politics.
Thanks in advance.
It looked like a catch to me and then he broke the plain... That being said, ever since the Cowboys and Jerry Jones were essentially screwed over by the same nonsensical ruling a couple of years ago, they have ruled the same way every time it happens.
Damned good game though, and hearts broke on both sides... After watching Tom Brady comeback to win his 51st come from behind fourth quarter win, they screwed the pouch and gave it all up. I thought the Patriots were complete toast and then their was the elation of that interception and that made the pain all go away... Sorry Steeler fans... I know it sucks, but you guys are my teams good luck charm... 5 Super Bowl wins... 3 of them after beating the Steelers in the AFC championship... I can hardly wait for that game.
I thought I've seen it all in the NFL. Boy, was I wrong.
The receiver caught the ball, made an aggressive move towards the goal line. His knee hit the ground and he lunged towards the end zone and clearly "broke the plane".
TOUCHDOWN!!!
As a Cowboys fan, I know a lot about the lawyer dissection of a catch. Another reason why the NFL play is causing the sport to lose interest with the fans. Games come down to paragraph descriptions, multiple replays, and endless ref flags wrapped around commercials.
Refs are not there to ensure a fair game, they are there to make sure their “right” team wins....
And they wonder why their ratings keep dropping
It sure ass hell looked like a catch to me....if there was justice the Pats would insist the results be corrected!!!
Same call that went against Calvin Johnson (Lions) against the Bears.
Referees need more time studying these...specifically.
The Steelers have won more games on bogus calls than any team in the NFL. Plus Tomlin is an Obama boot licker and a cheat. (Look up when Tomlin tried to trip a player). So screw them
Come on Grease,
You know that the Patriots are the NFL’s favorite.
This horrible call was but one in many the officials have made over the years and ALWAYS in favor of the Pats.
I patiently await the day some clown with a pituatary gland problem grabs their quaterback and breaks his leg ala Joe Theisman.
Bravo Sierra. Keep livin' the dream...
Dez says that was a catch.
Must control the ball through the fall has been part of the rule for the entire 21st century. I knew on the first replay that catch would be undone. They called the wrong play on 3rd down, that lost the game.
Pats fan to the core, here, and yep, I think your Steelers were jobbed. Yes, I understand the letter of the law, but c’mon, that was a catch.
An interesting side note to this: The Steeler’s coach, Mike Tomlin is a member of the NFL Rules Committee, and last time it came up for a vote, he cast a vote in support of the rule!
