For all you Freepers who may have the inclination to post some remark about hating the NFL .... don't bother. Your comment is not necessary.. This is merely about football, football officiating, and not politics.
Thanks in advance.
Then you would agree that the Cowboys were robbed by a blown call in 1976?
Drew Person had a game-winning touchdown catch invalidated by a bad call.
He had control of the ball and both feet down in bounds.
No controversy at all. No catch. Easy call.
He caught the ball while he was falling to the ground. NFL rules say that when you are falling to the ground, you MUST maintain possession throughout the contact with the ground. That ball bit the ground. Clear as day. Easy call.
What is this “football” matter you type about.

Hey, the Pigsbarf Squealers have been having games and ref calls given to them for many, many years, going back before the infamous Steeler/Seahawk super bowl farce and sham years ago. Poor little Squealers . . . boo hoo!
Oh, I'm sorry sweetie. Pats do that to a lot of people - don't take it personal.
What’s an nfl?
I saw the youtube of the play. They were robbed.
Cry me a river, Steelers fans. It should've never come down to that play to win the game. Steelers were up by 8 points late in the 4th quarter and literally gave the game away.
Stop crying and kick the Patriot's asses in the playoff's. That's how it's supposed to work.
There was nothing more painful, nothing more stupid, than this one play in history of NFL.
Situation: less than a minute left to play between NE Pats & Seattle Seahawks, the winner wins the SUPERBOWL.
Seattle had the ball on 1 yard line of Patriots. It was 2nd down play. Seattle has 1 more timeout coming. Marshawn Lynch was having a great day bulldozing through Patriot defense. If he bulldozes through 1 yard, it is 6 points and Seattle wins 2nd Superbowl. So what do the Seahawks idiot coach calls for? To throw the ball!
I can only guess coach did not want Lynch to get all the glory. Pats intercept the throw and game is over!
my father was shot and my uncle killed fighting for the US and freedom for us and allies. Every week these players disrespect the sacrifice my family made by disrespecting the national anthem. The thought of giving them attention or money repulses me and the thought that someone else would do it is unconscionable.
IIRC, soon as he crosses the plane = touchdown = play over.
“as the ball was in his grasp the ball hit the ground slightly but the ball was still in his grasp.”
Nice way to rewrite the play...sorry, the ball was NOT in his grasp...watch the replay, his left hand was not in the grasp and the ball bounced off the ground. That means he lost control. Instead of yelling at the officials maybe you should be yelling at your tight end for worrying more about scraping his elbows than holding onto the ball.
Great game but the Steelers got robbed. Not only did the receiver have full control and possession when he broke the plane of the goal line after making a football move but the ball never even touched the ground.
I always thought that if the player has possession and control of the ball when it crosses the goal line, it is a touchdown and the play is over. He def had possession and control when the ball crossed the line, the only (irrelevant) question being what happened after the touchdown was scored. Pats win, Stillers robbed...
The zebras made a bad call....
Here is a link to a previous non-catch that was equally as consequential. Megaton, caught a TD, went to the ground and left the ball there. Incomplete pass.
Sorry...but the nfl has become about politics. Expect comments.
We can understand your pain. Did you see the video review in the Green Bay/Carolina game? The video officials called a touchdown for a player who juggled the ball and then fell on his can on the end zone line. After multiple replays, the officials called it a good touchdown because his butt was in bounds for a nanosecond.
