A Morgan City man is suing the New Orleans Saints for a refund on his season tickets because some players have disrespected the national anthem before games this season.
Lee Dragna filed a lawsuit Monday in 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna seeking a refund for the tickets as well as attorney’s fees, claiming the protest by some players against police brutality and racial injustice has prevented him and his family from enjoying the games.
Dragna said he hasn’t attended a game since the first home game of the 2017 season against the New England Patriots, on Sept. 17, when he said some of the players did not come out for the singing of the national anthem.
When they did come out, the suit says, “They passed directly in front of where the petitioner and his guests were seated. Many of the fans in that area booed and cursed at the Saints players.”(snip)
Dragna, a businessman in Morgan City, said Tuesday that the rowdy, angry reaction of the people around his seats has made the tickets unusable by him and his family, as well as customers he would otherwise give the tickets to.
He said the behavior of some fans upset by the protests — cursing, spilling beer — is “borderline dangerous,” though he said he thinks the responsibility for that behavior ultimately rests not with the fans but with owner Tom Benson.
“The Saints created that behavior by condoning it,” he said.
“It’s my thought pattern that (players) should not be allowed (to protest),” he said. “If you sell tickets to a gaming event for entertainment, you should not be allowed to turn it political.”

The NFL sold a product in a contract...then change the product without changing the contract or the price.
Gonna be fun to watch.
Snicker, snicker. You know the origination of the randomly colored seats in the Superdome was to give the impression that people were actually sitting in the stadium when they couldn’t pay people to go to the games. Now they should prop up the paper bags on those seats so it really looks authentic!
The funniest one I heard is since you have season tickets already bought and paid for, drive into the seediest part of town and yell “Free Tickets”. I’m sure the vendors would just love that.
Unless there’s a clause in the ticket purchase agreement guaranteeing that the players would show respect for the flag, police, etc before the game, I don’t know on what he could base his claim.
If his claim is based on his/his family’s lack of enjoyment of the game(s), I’m not sure how far that would fly legally.
I’d dump the season ticket for what I could get and not buy any more tickets in the future.

If you buy a new car and the springs keep bouncing — sufficient to make the ride uncomfortable — the dealer cannot say “but it gets you there.”
I think this is a wobbler but there is some meat on the bone. There is more here than can be simply dismissed.

That’s the problem - if they had contracted to supply players who show repect to the US, the flag and so on, the guy might have had a case.
But all the NFL had to provide was a football game, win or lose. Even the performance in the game/score/standings has no warranty or guarantee.
If there were no game, then the guy would have a valid legal beef, otherwise - nope.
Unless the kneelers were somehow blocking his view of the game action, he has no case.
