Venting: Alabama
Me | 12/12/2017 | Me

Posted on 12/12/2017 8:53:19 PM PST by MountainWalker

Let me say I am extremely disappointed in the loss tonight. I would have stuck with Strange in the primary, but I would have voted for Moore if I lived in Alabama. This is a double loss since Sessions has been such a lousy AG and set the table for this Mueller witch hunt but would have been a reliable Senate vote.

I wish people would understand that the difference between glory and destruction with high risk candidates is pretty slim even in Alabama. The media is the enemy - the communication wing of the DNC and will sabotage R candidates or run interference for D's as the situation requires. How many people know Senator Menendez is a pedophile? How bad does a Senator Strange sound tonight?

Let's not kid ourselves: Moore lost this seat. If any Democrat gave as tepid a response to the pedo charges leveled at him, we'd be all over him. He was stupid, selfish and reckless to have run with this is his past, and the media deliberately waited to expose him until he was locked onto the ballot. They tried to do the same to Trump with the Access Hollywood tape, waiting until well after Trump clinched the nomination but it backfired ultimately because of Trump's dynamism and the weakness of the charges once you get past the crassness of the remark. Still, Trump only won by about 80k votes across some key states.

This country is teetering on the abyss if it's not already fallen into it and we just haven't realized it yet. We need bulletproof candidates because the media is gunning for our guys while they bury stories for any Democrats whose seats might get filled by Republicans, either at the ballot box or appointed by Republican governor. This is the battlefield we have to operate in, and there's nothing we can do about that but not make unforced errors with lousy candidate quality control.

" the appointment of Sessions was the solitary worst mistake that Trump has made "

Sessions is from Alabama, it comes natural to screw America.

Ask me if I’m a pedophile, and I’ll give you a much more convincing response than Moore.

If it’s war, the only winner will be Dems and liberals.

Ummm...

In a 52-48 Senate, the GOP-e just intentionally gave a Senate seat to the left.

Who is at war with who?

First off, people need to look up pedophilia. It means pre-pubescent, not teenaged.

Second, he probably isn’t all that innocent which is why he couldn’t defend himself very well. After all, he’s on record as having first met his wife when she was a teen at a dance recital and he “knew she was going to be someone special in his life”. He’s 14 years older than her. That means he was 30ish when he first met her. That creeps a lot of people out.

I think a lot of Alabama republicans with teenage daughters stayed home today. After all, how could they be seen by their friends, neighbors or their own teenage daughters heading to the polling place?

I was hoping he could pull it off. Then there was a really bad optic of him getting interviewed by a 12 year old girl recently. What the hell was he thinking?

I’ve never really liked Moore for whatever reason, personality I guess, and I do think he was hit with false accusations although it’s pretty hard to believer there isn’t some truth buried in them somewhere.

But I’ll be a bit kinder to him than you are. He was a very narrow candidate. Obviously conservatives loved him, but that means liberals hated him with a passion. That leaves those in the middle, who might go either way but the reason they’re in the middle is because they are not political junkies and have beliefs that do not follow liberal-conservative boundaries. To them the allegations were a deal breaker - if not to the point they believed he was guilty but clearly to the point that they just stayed home.

Roy Moore is probably a good man, I don’t know him and it’s not for me to judge. But I can assess him and say that he did not have any kind of appeal that cut across party or ideological lines. He’s a polarizing figure and has made his reputation on that basis, which is certainly his right but it isn’t the way to win elections where there are countervailing forces at work. I’m sure many Alabama Republicans just said “Screw it” when they heard their own Senator Shelby say he wasn’t going to vote for Moore. That was a low blow, but that’s what polarizing figures get.

I’m seeing a pattern with conservatives. They seem to think they have a cloak to make invisible their past. WAKE UP, GUYS. Your best hope to overcome something slightly salacious in your past, is total honesty.

Let me help you.

For a Herman Cain: “I’ve caused pain in my marriage in the past, but she and I are closer than ever.”

For a Roy Moore: “When I was younger, I used to have terrible crushes on much younger women. In fact, my own wife was much younger. But when I began dating and married her, I’ve never looked at another woman ever.”

And if you are a current perv assaulting women in your bathrobe, just leave public service.

the title of the book is, “here is what happens when we lose our freaking minds in the primaries”.

LOL! So true!

I do know what you mean. It's not funny at all. In fact, it's as serious as a heart attack.

Jones will lose in 2020. So the loss is only temporary.

roy moore is the latest chapter in the same book with sharron angle, richard mourdock, todd akin, and christine o’donnell. the title of the book is, “here is what happens when we lose our freaking minds in the primaries”.

Then explain how we have a President Trump.

The GOP-e is at war with its conservative and populist base. They openly sabotaged the non-swamp GOP candidates you mentioned and then blamed the losses on the irregularities of the candidates.

The GOP-e did everything they could to stop Trump from being nominated or elected.

Now they actively oppose and defeat Moore and they are still trying to get rid of Trump through Rosenstein's Independent Counsel. Heck, Trump still doesn't have his sub-cabinet nominees confirmed by the Republican Senate!

The Swamp always tries to depict outsiders as inexperienced dangerous lunatic deviates.

If you think it is best to support the McConnells of the world, then we will agree to disagree. But I don't see how that accomplishes anything other than what we have already seen from American Government over the last century.

Democrats will see this as a vote against Trump—they have found the tactics that work. Have crying women charge GOP with Sex Crimes—and like magic they become toxic and are forced out—GOP needs to get there women put to charge Democrats (they would not need to lie). Trump must act in a bold way or he will get the Moore treatment. This might be the magic bullet that ends the Trump Revolution -—Democrats take over Senate and House, Block Trump to make sure he’s a failed president—Impeachment, go after his children—This was a sad day for the Republic.

But they’ve already tried all that against Trump, Trump knows how to handle it, Moore didn’t.
