The fight happened when the woman "[D]id not receive what she believed to be an adequate amount of Sriracha sauce," Seattle police reported.
Sriracha on pizza? It's a divisive issue. Some people think Sriracha on pizza tastes great, but some pizza purists think it's heresy.
A woman solidly in the pro-Sriracha-on-pizza camp got into a fight over the issue at a Capitol Hill pizzeria early Monday morning. The woman was irate after employees at Sizzle Pie apparently refused to give her an "adequate amount of Sriracha sauce."
The woman, age 36, called 911, telling the dispatcher that the employees were yelling at her and calling her names because she asked for more Sriracha.
Things only got worse for the woman, however. When she and her 45-year-old companion stepped outside the restaurant, a 29-year-old man - for unknown reasons - threw a garbage can at them. The receptacle hit the man in the leg.
When Seattle officers arrived, they had a difficult time figuring out what was going on. The woman would not stop talking about the lack of Sriracha at the restaurant, according to police, which slowed down their investigation.
Subscribe "The woman, officers wrote in their report, 'kept bringing up' the sriracha issue as officers were attempting to investigate the incident. She also 'attempted to divert [the] investigation from the assault to her irritation with the pizza parlor and her treatment' by an employee 'with the tattoos on the face,'" Seattle police described in a blog post.
Unfortunately, Seattle police were unable to settle the Sriracha-on-pizza debate. But, they did take the guy who threw the garbage can to jail for assault.
Sorry, but I’m a Louisiana Hot Sauce man...
Just sell her a half liter bottle of hot sauce and say;
“Go for it, Ma’am!”
I think she just likes the activity of complaining too much to stop.
I’ve never had Sriracha sauce, so I’m withholding judgment on whether or not the complaint was justified.
Coincidentally, I just noticed about an hour ago that Kroger has their store brand Sriracha on sale this week. You see it used a lot on TV cooking competition shows. I’m wondering what the fuss is all about, so I plan to pick up a bottle...
Be careful. Sriracha sauce has been linked to mood swings and violent behavior.
Vietnamese hot sauce on pizza?
It’s good on pizza. I wish it was hot, though.
Oddly enough my dad hates garlic and yet loves Sriracha.
Blame it on seasonal affective disorder.
Crushed red pepper flakes for me.
Serendipity.
I happen to be eating pizza with Sriracha on it right now.
Personal rule of thumb:
I use Sriracha as a topping for (almost any) savory food.
But when cooking a soup, stew or in preparatory seasoning I use Crystal.
That said - I would not accept a “store brand” for either of them.
You use champagne in soup?
Next time you make a soup or stew, try Korean gochugaru
It's wonderful!
Sounds about right for a chick from Seattle.

I vote for Door #2, Monty...
