I don’t have a problem with people pursuing veganism, but I would never go out of my way to accommodate a vegan’s needs for dinner at my house. Vegans should eat with other vegans. Or they can bring their own stuff and prepare it. It would be like expecting a gentile to prepare a kosher meal for a Jewish guest who keeps kosher.

Have a niece who’s probably 250lbs and “vegan.” Likely much processed food including bread, crackers, chips, etc.

I have a couple as well. But to help them avoid this conundrum I taught them how to cook. I mean basic cooking with vegetables to make things taste good (think mirepoix). Before I intervened they were headed down a path of eating extreme amounts of processed foods. I convinced them that meat substitution wasn't "pure" veganism (gotcha girls!). I convinced them that eating plant only food is way different than the regular American diet. Trying to make things that are comparative to the foods non-vegans eat was a waste of time (see how I played on their visions of superiority?).

The point is that now they stop at the farmer's market rather than the grocery for their food. Yes they still eat a lot of carbs (mostly for texture), but they don't eat processed soy and copious amounts of sugar and carbs any more.

PS I am a meatasaurus and not a vegan.

I think my SIL is a heavy drinker. She also eats a lot of processed food, like oreos. Apparently those are vegan.

Gen 9 says OK to eat meat but it should be bled first.

Prov 15:17 basically says it's better to settle for veggies with love in your heart than to feats on meat with hate in it.

Romans 14:2-3 says not to make fun of those who don't eat meat and 21-23 seems to say not to throw it in the face of those who haven't yet developed the faith that Jesus and the New Covenant are real.

If nothing else, the Bible does leave room for those who prefer not to eat meat.

PS: Tanks for posting that because it got me looking in places I normally only see by happenstance instead of actually reading with purpose.

Isn’t it curious how “vegans” always seem to look like the survivors of the Burma Railway!

Umm. No . I have never seen this. How many vegans have you seen that look like a survivor of the Burma Railway, first off, and how did you know they were vegans?

Thanks for posting this... Just had my first Vegan Thanksgiving and ready for my first Vegan Christmas. My body could not be happier!! Lost 40 pounds and my heart is in BEAUTIFUL SHAPE.

Awesome. This is the best decision you could have ever made for yourself. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Laughing at the 2 types of replies to this thread.

First type is vegans look like concentration camp survivors.

Second type is that vegans are obese.

Either CAN be true. Has nothing to do with veganism.

One thing I have always done in over 50 years of serving guests is insure that there is enough on the table to suit meat eaters (I am one) and vegetarians (I was raised as one.)

It’s not hard. Meat, potatoes, vegetables, salad, bread.

Oh, we always have vegetables on hand, but I think “vegans” can’t eat anything that uses animal products, like milk, butter, etc.

Thank you very much! I agree. Never going back to eating animal products. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy 2018!

Any vegetarians are welcome. They will find food that they can eat.

Vegans are eating an unnatural and and unhealthy diet. They are not welcome.

Two of my sister in laws are vegans. One of them is perhaps 280lbs. I don’t get it. The other is overweight, but not that much.

Sugar is not an animal product.
