The media echo chamber spent the week speculating about whether Special Counsel Robert Mueller can or will nab President Trump on obstruction-of-justice charges. All the while it continues to ignore Washingtons most obvious obstructionthe coordinated effort to thwart congressional probes of the role law enforcement played in the 2016 election.
The news that senior FBI agent Peter Strzok exchanged anti-Trump, pro-Hillary text messages with another FBI official mattersthough weve yet to see the content. The bigger scandal is that the Justice Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Mr. Mueller have known about those texts for months and deliberately kept their existence from Congress. The House Intelligence Committee sent document subpoenas and demanded an interview with Mr. Strzok. The Justice Department dodged, and then leaked.
The department also withheld from Congress that another top official, Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr, was in contact with ex-spook Christopher Steele and the opposition-research firm Fusion GPS. It has refused to say what role the Steele dossierClinton-commissioned oppo researchplayed in its Trump investigation. It wont turn over files about its wiretapping.

I was possibly generalizing a bit too much in my previous post. The National Security Blanket is certainly misused in Congressional testimony.
But I still believe that Wray was correct in dodging all FISA related questions on National Security grounds. We will find out if Im right if Wray is invited to a closed door session with Congress and is asked those same questions in a classified setting.
Im betting that Wray is honest and will answer honestly.
But I could be wrong. Ive been wrong before. I remember specifically back in 1991 ...
they probably wiretapped Trump since July 2016 without authorization.
I suppose you could read the Congressional Record and Supporting Supreme COurt cases yourself to see the Joke.

I am not so sure Wray is correct on this because a Manufactured Fraud can in no way be a National Security issue, and National Security can NOT be invoked to cover up a Crime. I understand why and don’t have an issue with his testimony yet. I think Congress needs to demand the President declassify EVERYTHING surrounding this issue, if he refuses, attach a law to the budget forcing the issue.
Excellent link, thanks! Strzok was right in the middle of all the jobs that were being fixed, and appears biased to boot. Question is, was he also following orders, from others such as Comey and McCabe.
This is why we need a new special counsel to investigate the DoJ, as it clearly can’t be trusted to investigate itself, and the IG inspector is still a DoJ employee under that chain of command (and an Obama appointee as well according to some here). But Sessions is refusing to appoint one, despite repeated requests from his oversight committees in Congress. But either that is done, or these crimes will never be fully uncovered, much less prosecuted, and the swamp will live on.
FOX news just covered this exact WSJ article on live TV.
The Democratic talking head said that the article’s premise was upside down, that Congress needs to heel to Mueller, not the other way around, as Mueller is the only actual criminal investigation.
The Conservative talking head missed the perfect chance to say that since there seems to be more crimes being uncovered in the DoJ, than ever existed in the Trump campaign, it’s time for a new special counsel to investigate the DoJ.
To his credit, he did at least say none of what Congress is asking for should in any way interfere with Mueller’s investigation. The information digs at the root of Mueller and the DoJ’s credibility, but there’s no indication that Mueller is investigating corruption in the DoJ, nor should any such attempted investigation by him be considered trustworthy due to conflicts of interest.
Libs have misunderstood the American people. There are a percentage that will vote Dem regardless of the circumstances. It is ingrained in them. There are a percentage of real indies. The majority are average people that read thru all the bullshit. That is why Trump won. No matter how much spin the majority are still behind Trump. Hopefully this thing will blow wide open soon. If Hillary & Obama Cabals are caught, the People will know. They will be nothing in the future.
Jim Jordan asked a simple question: Who brought the Dossier to the FISA Court.
IMHO, that is not classified information and Wray could have and should have answered the question. But he didnt.
My bet: Wray was playing safe on the FISA questions but will answer them in a closed session. And, since (IMHO) Jim Jordans question was not covered by security considerations, Wray should answer it and we should hear what his answer was.
Interesting times.
Consider me very skeptical of that happening. These oversight committees have multiple subpoenas into the DoJ/FBI for information such as this, and the DoJ/FBI continues to stonewall, closed sessions or not.
The oversight committees have also called for a new special counsel to investigate the DoJ, as well as threatened them with Contempt of Congress citations, which could even lead to actual arrests if Congress asserted itself fully as allowed by the Constitution.
But make no mistake, the DoJ is reeling right now, and is circling their wagons, with little incentive to give Congress any thing more than what is absolutely necessary. The were sitting on the Strzok thing, all this time, for example, until it somehow finally leaked to the press.
Start putting lots of DC criminals in jail or shut up. Any _reports_ or government _officials_ talking about doing something when it doesn’t happen, need to shut up. We need talkers who are doing something about DC, the land of the lawless.
“Obstruction of justice” and “constitutional crisis” are weasel words right out of Watergate. Watergate occurred before Tom Landry brought the shotgun offense back to football.
But the commie/media playbook never changes.
until it somehow finally leaked to the press.
According to both the NTY and WP, there were multiple sources giving information on why Strzok was demoted, supposedly for biased tweets. Jim Jordan cast some doubt on that being the actual reason yesterday, so were these actually even leaks, or were they disinformation designed to hide even more incriminating information?
Maybe the RATS know what hasn’t been released yet from the IG report and are buffering for it. Some of his report has reportedly been published, but I haven’t seen it here yet.
I’d like to think *all* the illegal unmasking will be addressed, since so much happened after the election.
Hannity is like Corey Feldman with his teasing.
Just state what you have and let us get to arresting these crooks.
I believe the key issue is whether Trump's resolve well weaken and he'll seek an early armistice. However, just like WWI, all that will accomplish is to serve as a temporary pressure release until WWII is unleashed. (The analogy being a full civil war with military divided.) So, the question is: does Trump have the 'nads to prosecute conspiracy to commit treason to the point of unconditional surrender?
This is really the direction the debate on conservative sites like FR should be taking. We should be moving on past the discussion of what occurred, and start focusing on: (a) how is treason going to be punished; and (b) what are we going to do about preventing a recurrence (at least for another 50-75 years)?
“clique??”
Indeed.
