St Moritz, Switzerland (CNN)A number of US athletes have spoken out against Donald Trump during his presidency -- and skier Lindsey Vonn has become the latest to have her say. Targeting Olympic gold at February's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Vonn is in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where she spoke passionately about what it means to compete for the US ski team. "Well I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president," Vonn told CNN's Alpine Edge.

These athletes do not represent the United States of America.

The Olympics exploits national pride to gin up interest in their irrelevant sports competitions in events that nobody cares about. Absent the nationalistic angle, nobody would watch at all.

They are a private for-profit sports league. They represent nobody but themselves. All of the flags, uniforms and anthems are just window dressing. Boob Bait for Bubbas.

The dirty secret is probably 50% of the athletes from other countries pretty much live and train in the US Full-Time.

Her biggest sponsor is Proctor and Gamble and they are using their Bounty Paper Towel brand for visibility.

I just decided that I am no longer using Bounty paper towels.

If there is someone on FR who knows how to set up boycott campaigns, now would be a good time to step forward.

LET’s CHIKFILA THIS POS.

Exactly. Doesn’t the US team have some clause about not bringing bad attention to the team or something?

Over the years she has signed many endorsement deals which includes Under Armour, Red Bull as the big ones while Oakley, Rolex and Head are also with her.
Maybe we should communicate our displeasure to them.

Under Armour 1 (888) 727-6687
Red Bull http://energydrink-us.redbull.com/en/general-contact-form
Oakley: 800-403-7449
Rolex:+41 22 302 22 00
Head: 1 800 874 3235
Call em up and tell them what we think.
We can be an armchair activists or we can at least make a couple of phone calls, can’t we? If we are as outraged at this shit as we say we are, we can at the very very least pick up a telephone, no?

Vonn is an idiot. No Olympic athlete has ever gone to the Olympics to represent a sitting President. They’ve gone to represent their country and themselves. We have elected officials, not “Dear Leaders” or “Great Helmsmen.” Good or bad, they have never been nor will they ever be the nation.

Amazing the number of people who don’t know when to STFU. Michael Jordan said it best - republicans buy sneakers too.

Nobody goes to the Olympics to represent the President, they go to represent the country.

There was no reason to say that, other than “me, too!”.

Now we don’t have to root for her. The Polish gal - that is who we need to root for.
