We need to use every instance of this as a reason to scream like banshees for term limits. Get real shrill and in the face of both parties at all levels.
I honestly think that term limits is one of the issues that even many liberals will agree with us on. If term limits can pass by a wide margin in an ultra-liberal place like Montgomery County, MD they can pass anywhere.
