Yeah I don’t why that is, why some people have so much joint problems and other guys can run until they’re in their 80s. There was a guy 96 years old who ran the NYC marathon last year, WW2 vet and he finished it. How crazy is that? I think a lot of it has to do with genetics and past injuries but also how straight your feet are. A lot of people have unaligned feet, when they stand barefoot you can see how the foot sits more to one side than the other and that puts a great deal of stress on the knees and hips. What I found is Dr. Sholes sells orthodics that you can put in your shoes and it compensates which makes a lot of difference. They’re about $60 bucks in any drug store if they got the machine. There’s actually a machine you step on and it determined how aligned your feet are then it tells you which one to buy. That’s how I got mine and it did give my knees a lot less stress. Also leg strength has a lot to do with it. I drove a taxi in NYC for 10 years when I was in my 40s and when I finally quit I can barely walk a block my legs were so weak and then I started exercising then jogging, and man oh man, every night it felt like someone took a sledge hammer to my legs. It was so painful I actually broke out into a fever for some reason and then after about two months of just hammering away running as much as I could, my legs got strong enough where I had zero pain. It was JUST like this guy, EXACTLY but like I said, my limit is only a few miles...

My point being is exercise is so so so vitally important. If you can’t run, then move on to biking or swimming which what my father does now.

Here’s the orthotics......

Thanks——as far as I know there is no such thing as an anti-alcoholism drug.

No, antabuse makes people who drink alcohol vomit and naloxone stops the effects of alcohol.

But sobriety and recovery are long hard steps

Meh, My plan is to wander into the woods and let the wolves have me.

When I die, I expressed my wish my ashes to be spread over my family farm.

It nourished me and my family in life so in turn my mortal remains will nourish the lands the of my ancestors.

If not, I will haunt their every waking hour!!!!!!

I want to remember him this way. For some reason, I was thinking about him last night because it has been time since we’ve heard from him. Loved him since 1972 when I was 12. Praying he comes to know the Lord, that the Holy Spirit guides him before he moves from this life to the next.

Lewy Body Dementia, the same thing that Robin Williams had.
It killed my brother in less than two years.

Did he act drunk while going through it? What amazes me is the amount of people defending David Cassidy when there is not a shred of evidence he had dementia. Where is his medical report? He was playing a concert slurring his words, unable to stand, and immediately the next day he blames it on dementia without one scintilla of proof and all these people believe him. Based on WHAT? The guy is a hardcore alcoholic, face it, it’s why his liver and kidneys are obliterated.

I think I might have watched that show twice... and the Monkees once.... since this a family site I’ll refrain from commenting further.

Yep, life certainly throws humans lots of curve balls, with dementia being one of them. The only good thing about dementia, if one were to look for a silver lining, is that the person experiencing the dementia in unaware of their behavior. Their only clue is perhaps in moments of clarity being told by someone how they behaved. But that too is soon forgotten. Others who are exposed to the person suffering from dementia are the ones who are suffering more than the person with the dementia. It is heart wrenching I’m sure to watch someone who you adore slowly lose their mental capabilities.
