House of Cards employees accuse Kevin Spacey of harassment, assault

Veteran actor Kevin Spacey has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by several coworkers working for his hit Netflix series "House Of Cards" as the actor faces allegations that he made sexual advances towards actor Anthony Rapp when the latter was just 14 years old.

CNN reported Thursday that eight people working for or who previously worked for Spacey's Netflix show described a "toxic" work environment created by the actor, who one of the sources said sexually assaulted him during an early season of the show. All eight sources remained anonymous for fear of retribution.

That source, a former production assistant, described an encounter with Spacey in which the actor "cornered him" and initiated inappropriate and unwanted sexual contact.

"I told him, 'I don't think I'm ok with this, I don't think I'm comfortable with this,'" the former assistant said, adding Spacey grew "visibly flustered," fleeing the trailer and leaving the production for the remainder of the day. "I was in a state of shock," he said. "He was a man in a very powerful position on the show and I was someone very low on the totem pole and on the food chain there."

The same former assistant described Spacey's behavior as both "predatory" and "routine."

"I have no doubt that this type of predatory behavior was routine for him and that my experience was one of many and that Kevin had few if any qualms about exploiting his status and position," he added. "It was a toxic environment for young men who had to interact with him at all in the crew, cast, background actors."

Netflix announced earlier this week that it would suspend production of what was to be the final season of "House Of Cards" over the allegations. It was also announced this week that Spacey will not be honored with the the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award as a result of the accusations.

“The International Academy has announced that in light of recent events it will not honor Kevin Spacey with the 2017 Intl Emmy Founders Award,” read a tweet from the International Emmy Awards account.

Spacey has apologized, saying he is “beyond horrified to hear” Rapp’s account and that he did not remember the incident. He has not yet responded to the newest wave of allegations.

While there has been a lot of this going on in Hollywood for a very long time, I expect a whole lot of people now are going to jump on the wagon and make claims for good old fashioned payback.

Aholes in the industry who may not have committed these sexual offenses are going to find that payback is a bitch in the whole feeding frenzy.

An accused who’s real offense is being a prick to everyone will learn the lesson that you can’t prove a negative to exonerate yourself.

I believe every story. He just seems sleazy. He entered rehab today I heard. I think eventually he will be in trouble with the law. It pisses me off that the Academy hasn’t taken his awards away yet. They sure did quickly with Cosby (well maybe not Academy but everything else). They better do so that is all I am saying.

I said it before across multiple Weinstein (and now Spacey) articles, so I apologize for the repetition. However, I feel strongly that this is a golden opportunity to not "let a serious crisis go to waste." Except here, we're not being slimy collectivists, but upright citizens.

Mind you, I really do not like the idea of using the behavior of dirtbags and the tears of actresses/the misfortune of an innocent as a weapon against an enemy (to quote another Freeper). Real men would take these losers out back and beat some sense into them. I am also a free market capitalist and I don't want to regulate anything unless it is in line with the intent of the Founders.

All that said, we're dealing with the lowest of the low. If the Republicans had any sense of testicular fortitude - or a desire to MAGA for ALL individuals - they'd call a press conference and say:

"Democrats are clearly pro-misogyny. Silence equals consent. They said nothing while one of their fundraisers roamed as a sexual predator in Hollywood.

"It is sad that the loudest Democrat since this story broke has been Hillary Clinton, as she acknowledged that the Oval Office has seen a sexual predator - her husband.

"The Republican leadership asks the Democrats to reject harboring of anti-woman fundraisers, and join us as we announce the start of hearings on the civil rights of individuals amidst this poisonous atmosphere in Hollywood, with an eye toward regulating studios and actors and actresses under the Commerce Clause as so many Democrats have with other parts of the economy."

Others have noted that the Republicans likely have skeletons in their closet and there is a risk in this approach. I agree, but maybe it's time to man-up and clean the Augean Stables. Frankly, I don't care if it's Hollywood or Wall Street or Main Street or K Street...this isn't the way real men act.

Yes, some people may have not spoken out for a variety of reasons. Nobody knows what is in the heart of mankind. I will not be the first one to cast a stone, and based on some of my readings, there is a lot of internal sorrow going around nowadays. That, to me, is enough punishment but the good news is, there is always room for forgiveness FOR THOSE WHO SEEK IT WITH CONTRITION.

All that said, there is always love, but there is also justice. Many of us need to step up - the time to act is upon us. From Moses to St Joseph to men of fidelity throughout history, now is the time for Deplorables to reclaim the mantle of "compassion" from the statists, and expose their War on Women. Who among us is willing to put thought into action, and in our daily lives when we encounter even a modicum of this behavior, to speak out forcefully?

This whole phenomenon reminds me of Jesse Jackson’s “love child” being publicized after Bush II won in 2000 (as payback for the late DUI story); I’d like to think Donald is settling some scores before the mid-terms. I’m not aware of any of the half dozen conservatives in Hollywood being accused yet...

I remember reading how Spacey was a big supporter and friend to Dick Gephardt.

I dunno why I remember that, but I filed it in my memory bank.

Apparently Spacey really loves Dick.
