Pop Culture, Commercials, and White Guys

It isnt difficult to find people complaining about how people of color are treated in America today. Turn on the TV, and youll see highly-paid NFL players lamenting this. White liberals are constantly bashing whiteness, and attending lectures and classes wherein white people are variously termed devils, demons, oppressors, or some other thing. It is the same for men in general, as opposed to women.
Whites, and white men in particular, are generally seen as squares. They cant dance, cant sing, are uncool, lame, stupid, and as the famous movie title once explained for us, white men cant jump. If white men do anything interesting or cool, it will be seen as cultural appropriation, denounced as racism, or become an Obama you didnt build that situation. White people either have no culture (that link is interesting, because many white American liberals genuinely believe that they have no culture), or their culture is based primarily on white supremacy.
I find it hard to believe white men at least don’t see race in commercials; look at how many never show white guys in the workplace or on a college campus. The oddest thing is these ads I receive from colleges for my children; the tokens in their brochures don’t resemble their target clients (us) in any way - and they don’t get our business. They go to state schools that don’t really advertise due to the demand for them (not great schools, but great prices for NJ).
The DUI segment of the video is interesting; I’m no angel, but the DUI arrests in my area are heavily skewed female. I don’t know if their significant others have already lost their licenses, but I suspect there is more at work here: Women are being worked like bachelor men now, and they don’t like it.
I don’t disagree. But would you ever dare contacting those places (especially the university) and complaining? I would love to have a front row seat to that.
I feel your pain. “They” make it hard to NOT see race.
PS: I was a 55 year old white man looking for work a couple of years ago. Every time I was a final candidate, I lost out to a black woman. Once? Sure, Twice? Ok. Three and four times...it almost made me get a tan and a week.

When I was younger, this was true of me. After decades of being told that people prefer commercials/shows where they are represented and respected... I oblige and reject leftist PC diversity commercials/shows and find alternatives.
I’m not the only one... and sooner or later, the economic pain is going to get their attention.

I don’t disagree. Methinks they should tone it down. But now the smarter millennial run those shops. It not going to happen until we all see everything in 18% grey.
That sucks (the preferred minority hiring); in my experience every token (specifically the unqualified people) has white people doing the real work anyway - they are just hired to stave off lawsuits.
This issue has come to a head recently where government hiring of veterans (usually cops) has basically put many white guys in front of the preferred minorities they’d love to hire to maintain/grow the fake black middle class. Many local governments have dropped Hispanic men from the “preferred minority” list now; they have plenty of them, and most qualified on their merits. Now the focus is getting women (including white ones) and black men onto government payrolls.
Actually I have a hard time even FINDING white males in commercials.
Case in point, the Volkswagen Tiguan commercial that I just saw moments ago.

Yeah, and every (nuclear) black family shown is AT LEAST upper middle class and driving a luxury car.
The company has painted itself into a corner; it can’t ask the white and Asian men to work longer hours than better-paid white women. Some of the women are bright and capable, worthy of their positions; newer promotions are mere tokens who spend hours socializing about pets and TV shows from the night before for 6 hours per day minimum.
Black employees, in lower-paid jobs, are shocked at how little the white female tokens actually work.

Little Ceasar’s has caught a lot of flak over on their facebook page over this commercial, very well deserved.
There is one area of commercials that flatly refuses to use diversity in their ads, home alarm systems. Every single home invader is a white, middle class looking man with a dirty face.
I hate that commercial.
