Today's random trivia. Who was America's first presidential SJW?
The Logs guy
Eleanor Roosevelt
Sounds like something Wilson’s wife had him say.
Yep, Woodrow Wilson
Trotsky?
James Weaver, Greenback Party, 1880.
Woodrow Wilson...
In many ways we are still paying the price from his policies...
He wad also a out and out racist..
That was a truely creative answer, so I had to look it up to see what kind of results were out there.
I’m not seeing where he advocated for social justice though. If you happen to know some specifics, do share and link.
Sooner or later, though, somebody in the White House was bound to say and do something similar.
The term “social justice” is from Catholic theologians, but came to mean a demand for absolute equality. I’m not sure what definition of ‘social justice’ you are looking for. Just the exact term?
William Jennings Bryan would be a good answer.
If they dare to come out in the open field and defend the gold standard as a good thing, we shall fight them to the uttermost, having behind us the producing masses of the nation and the world. Having behind us the commercial interests and the laboring interests and all the toiling masses, we shall answer their demands for a gold standard by saying to them, you shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns. You shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold.
Racist Woodrow Wilson??? The guy who had Birth of a Nation screened for him in the White House??? First Progressive Fascist POTUS? Yes. SJW? I don’t think he would make thd cut today. First real SJW who actually did something worthwhile. Truman.
Make sure you distinguish between the progressivist meaning of social justice and other, very different, possible meanings.
The people infected with the disease of egalitarianism have been with us forever and will continue to be with us. They are experts at exploiting envy and jealousy to rile up the masses. They are the community agitators.
From Tocqueville...
“There is a passion for equality that spurs all men to wish to be strong and esteemed. This passion tends to elevate the lesser to the rank of the greater. But one also finds in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to want to bring the strong down to their level [Class Warfare], and which reduces men to preferring equality in servitude to inequality in freedom.”
I think back then the British had the gold, but it is interesting indeed how this unAmerican rebellion against the Gold standard was being touted as the American patriotic thing to do against the British...
Good quote.
William Jennings Bryan?
Woody Burn in Hell Wilson
