How rudderless is the Democratic Party? Its membership is so bereft of leadership and policy direction that 16 of its senators have signed on to a health care bill sponsored by a self-avowed independent democratic socialist from Vermont.
The "Medicare for All Act of 2017" would repeal Obamacare, along with most other private and public insurance, and replace it with a government-run, one-size-fits-all, centrally directed system of reimbursement for medical expenses. Sanders, who honeymooned in the Soviet Union, holds the same opinion of health insurance as he does antiperspirants: "You don't necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different sneakers when children are hungry in this country."
Senators Harris, Booker, Gillibrand, and Warren, who in addition to cosponsoring the bill may soon be fighting each other, as well as Sanders, for the Democratic nomination, are generals re-enacting the last war. They saw how well Sanders did against Clinton, they have marched in the anti-Trump "resistance" movement, and they want to inoculate themselves from accusations of ideological heresy.

I’ve heard some radical types say, that the failures of socialism were due to it not being implemented properly. In their view the people in charge of failed socialist or communist countries simply didn’t do things right. The flaw was in the execution not in the doctrines of socialism.
I think that’s nonsense but the true believers such as a Bernie Sanders have a religious faith in that concept.
As miserable as those countries are for their citizens - they're pure bliss for 'elites' at the top of those hellholes... unlimited power, more money than can be spent in many lifetimes... and always hidden torture rooms for 'fun'...
What our United States 'elites' don't 'get' is that most of them will be down in the hellhole with the rest of us... the 'top' is small when the hellhole forms.

It is insanity to blindly follow an ideology that has never worked and has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of millions. The lie and indoctrination promotes that Marxism/Socialism/Communism etc. can work in America if it ultimately ran like China ditching the Constitution having a quasi Capitalist/Communist/Socialist utopia. The funny thing is the Bernie Sanders sheep always uses the Venezuelan and Cuban example.

In an odd sort of way, Senator Sanders has a point. If the swamptings, both political parties, can't stop obscene profiteering by insurance, pharmaceutical, caregiver, and medical providers, there's only one way to pay for the mess. That's single payer.
I can't get past Republicans not in voting in January to repeal Obamacare. How does the problem get solved when Republicans, even given the power, won't legislate?
