New geochemical research indicates that existing theories of the formation of the Earth may be mistaken. The results of experiments to show how zinc (Zn) relates to sulphur (S) under the conditions present at the time of the formation of the Earth more than 4 billion years ago, indicate that there is a substantial quantity of Zn in the Earth

I know folks in the sciences who are people of faith. FWIW, they tend to be a happier lot than the atheists and agnostics. :-)
That has been my experience as well.
I had a friend in a biology department at a major university tell me that there was a lot of respect in the department for intelligent-design literature but that few would publicly express that view. She also said that this group included some people who were not Christians.
When the Russians launched Sputnik in 1957, the U.S. Army issued a directive for the youth of America to start building rockets so we could catch up to them with future rocket scientists. The army even published a hardcover book on how to construct all kinds of rockets, including ZnS motors. I still have the book.

Religion is bad; it is designed to turn people away from Yehova’s commandments.
The Word of Yehova is devoid of “religion.”

.
I remember it well.
Just don’t try to do it today!

We used to do molded chlorate and sugar rockets.

“Excuse me miss! There’s nothing on my burger”
I was talking about the esoteric knowledge of historical science (mostly historical anyways... not many experiments involve creating entire planets).
While Science Man is smart smart smart, he looks dumb dumb dumb at the local watering hole using planetary origins as a pickup line.
Religion as a conversation starter isn’t much better.
And for the biggest turn-off of all, try arguing with some chick about how she’s absolutely wrong about science or religion. BEEP BEEP ZIP like the Road Runner she goes.
Let’s face facts. The whole “Earth was formed thusly” has not one thing to do with everyday life or even applied science. The only response possible for laymen is “Mmm-hmm. Yep yep yep. Is that so? Well isn’t that great? Thanks for the info, science bro!” and then continue on as if the Earth was formed last Tuesday and we magically appeared on it fully formed with a set of memories implanted by the Tyrell Corporation.
Anything beyond what the Bible says about how the earth was formed is pure guesswork.
always learn a lot reading the comments at the source. One thing is fer sher, the universe is complicated, like us. Same Creator?
LOL!
A lot of science is pretty minuscule steps.
YES!
Minds are working on that.
LOL!
A lot of science is pretty minuscule steps.
Most of what the basic research scientists do is reveal and collect knowledge. The quantity of scientific discoveries that actually have an impact on people's lives is minuscule.
