Airbnb is cancelling accounts of far-right activists who appear to have booked reservations in the US state of Virginia before a rally that neo-Nazis and white supremacists are expected to attend. The march, which is set to take place in Charlottesville on Saturday, has been dubbed "Unite the Right" by organisers and was called to support a local statue of Robert E Lee, the Confederacy's foremost military leader during the US Civil War. Among those slated to speak are far-right figures such as Jason Kessler - who claims to be an organiser of the march - and Richard Spencer, a leader in the alt-right movement. Hundreds are expected to attend the highly publicised rally In a statement provided to the local NBC29 news station, the holiday rental company Airbnb said its rules require that "members of the Airbnb community accept people regardless of their race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age". The statement added that when patrons violate the terms of service, Airbnb seeks "to take appropriate action including, as in this case, removing them from the platform". Kessler, a former journalist and well-known far-right activist, took to Twitter to decry Airbnb's decision, saying: "It's time for the alt-right to flex its muscles and boycott" the company. He also said potential legal action against Airbnb should be considered.

How did they identify them?
But when bakers refuse to bake a MAGA cake for a 9-year-old Stockton, Calif boy
IT’S JUST FINE.
Notice how it ALWAYS works jsut ONE way..?
That’s NOT going to last.
tick, tick, tick.....
AirBNB accepts all people ..... who agree with them.
Thought Crimes get you exiled.
A BOY NAMED PICKLE
All this crap was unnecessarily pulled out of thin air like it's some kind of sick joke!
Didn't even know the face. But now..?
Yeah, I do.
They hate him, so how bad can he be..?
I read in a UVA parents facebook group that the University is discouraging students from attending the rally. Sadly, such groups hurt the fight for historic preservation.
Isn’t Airbnb some sort of fag hookup deal?
How queer. This would seem to be against the policies of AirBnB to serve “everyone”.
Apparently, some organizers said that they had booked a bunch of large houses in the area of the event. AirBnB thereupon apparently went looking at social media accounts of people who booked large houses, identified people who are apparently right-wing, and black-balled them from AirBnB.
“Neo Nazis and White Supremacists” , translation: anyone who voted for President Trump.
“How did they identify them?”
Google.
They are a private outfit and can do what they want, and a Conservative position supports that right.
However, can you imagine how the heads of Airbnb would react in every social media venue they could find, if some private outfit was doing the same thing to thwart a Leftist organized “protest rally”? Airbnb would not be supporting that private outfits right to do that, they’d be protesting it and demanding they not do it. To anyone on the Left, Liberty is for them, not for everyone.
I am not sure that they can. They are a platform that allows members to rent their properties. Now they think they can refuse to rent to people for reasons they only guess may be true.
IOW, airbnb doesn’t own the properties they are withdrawing. We’re I an owner who thought my property had been rented, I’d be highly p-oed.
“Airbnb said its rules require that “members of the Airbnb community accept people regardless of their race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age”. “
They are dancing on a thin line, but it is their line to draw and dance upon.
Airbnb the company does own the venue the listings appear it. That is their “property” and as a private company they make the rules of its operation. As would I. I may not agree with their motive, but I grant that the action should not be considered or found illegal.
What if all those removed suddenly identified as black? Then Airbnb would be guilty of mass racism!
Fake news
Will they also do that to Far-Left groups?
