Before Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor shot Justine Ruszczyk through the open driver's side window of his squad, a woman had approached the back of the patrol car and "slapped" it, according to a court document filed Monday.
Authorities say Ruszczyk, who also used the surname Damond, called 911 to report a possible sexual assault in the alley behind her south Minneapolis home. She called again 10 minutes later to check on the status of the responding officer's arrival. Soon after, she was shot.
A search warrant was filed by Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigators to look at the area where the shooting happened and gather evidence as part of the investigation.
"Upon police arrival, a female 'slaps' the back of the patrol squad," according to the search warrant. "After that, it is unknown to BCA agents what exactly happened, but the female became deceased in the alley."
But the document doesn't explicitly say it was Ruszczyk who slapped the back of the police cruiser. It also doesn't say whether that was the loud noise that Noor's partner, Matthew Harrity, said he heard and was startled by before the shooting.
A BCA spokesperson declined to provide additional details, citing the ongoing investigation.
Noor has declined to speak with investigators. He remains on paid administrative leave.
The shooting has stirred controversy all around the country and internationally as news spread to Ruszczyk's home country of Australia.
Former Minneapolis Police Chief Janeé Harteau, before she resigned Friday, condemned Noor's actions and said "Justine didn't have to die." On Saturday, Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges appointed Assistant Police Chief Medaria Arradondo as acting chief.

Saw one of those signs in Post #31, well done.
These days though, if Mo were an actual Scot, he’d be hung up by his balls over the Mississippi River.
I think it was a commenter on Vox Day's blog who pointed out,
"White people riot with moving vans."
He was merely exercising her Constitutional Right to be silenced.
Good point. Orangutan arms.

“a female” and “the female” in the quote seem to indicate the same person, but in the next paragraph they say they can’t ID the eventual deceased woman as the slapper...but how do they know it was a woman who slapped the vehicle? Wow, “news” today sure fails in that it raises more questions than it answers.
A story I read early on said the guy on the bike ride by Noor’ s side and slapped the car as Justine walked up and they thought it was an ambush. Wish I could find that article.
Years ago I was coming out of a grocery store and onto the crosswalk when someone ran the sign and nearly hit me. As the car passed in front of me I slapped the car hard and screeched like a wounded dog ... which caused the driver to freak out and flail around and stomp on the brakes... and hopefully fill up her Depends over the thought of hitting someone’s puppy.
Thankfully it wasn’t a police car with a cop riding shotgun or the car’s driver might have backed up to give the passenger a shot at me.
Yes, I remember that. The cops were looking for someone on a bike. Then the fireworks angle showed up.
Now it’s a woman slapping a police car.
These idiots make the Keystone cops look professional. Deputy Barney is a better officer.
Oh well. They can still be proud of their Somali hire, right? Diversity is all that matters.
Yeah ,it is. Next they’ll say she ‘’fell on the bullet’’.
Trust but verify.
One problem is reporters will print crap from their imagination. The story has changed substantially since initial reports. Unless it is on video or audio, I don’t believe it. And why can’t we hear directly from the bicyclist?
Who said she was a Christian?
Nope. Suspended with pay and he is under no obligation to talk to investigators.
Yep, like they all do. I can't help think of the crap they pulled in both the Trayvon Martin, and Michael Brown cases.
Actually a dispatcher mentioned “aerial fireworks” but reportedly no neighbors heard them.
What did Justine actually hear that caused her to call 911 but no one else heard?
Don’t forget Sandy Hook.
That was a case where the weirdest and kookiest conspiracy theories made more sense than the many various, different and conflicting “official” versions that we were told by Obama and the MSM to believe.
What sort of pajamas was she wearing?
Do you write Hollywood scripts?
