I've always wondered about the origins and meanings (if any) behind others Freeper handles. Its a quiet Sunday morning, so I thought it would be an interesting topic to start the day.
What's the story behind your handle?
I'm getting on in years and was called an idiot by anti-Trumpers during the campaign, so I thought hold_muh_bier took care of the longevity portion and my tagline served dessert to the anti-Trump crowd.
But your tagline is one of the best on Free Republic ;-)
A boy named Sue, huh? Maybe try going by your initials, AK. Folks will assume you're either from Alaska, or you like badass Russian guns. Maybe both.
JimRob can change your handle and preserve your posting history. Just ask.
Wow. I'd just like to take a ride on one before I die. I've got to see about booking an advance reservation for the next time one of those birds comes to DFW.
...being of Scottish/Irish decent my last name begins with M....I had a crew chief in the USAF who couldn’t get it straight... kept calling me MacDougall... I also had a crew mate who reacted to my reaction to MacDougall with great glee....*smiles*...he made sure it stuck with tagging me “Doogle”
The first time I saw the word “zot” it was the sound lightning makes in the BC comic strip. In the late 1970’s I took it as my character name when my family was playing Dungeons and Dragons (the board game; the computer games came later). When I signed in to FR in 2003 I tried “zot” as my handle and was surprised when it worked. Later ZOT acquired its special meaning as the word for expulsion of someone from FR.
Very fun thread Windflier, and your back story is charming.
Mine was chosen after the barrycare disaster and I felt so strongly that nobody could force me to purchase anything, ever.
Born American and will die an American, love my country and thankful every day.
Just the person I want to ask.
Do these work?
The Himalayan natural rock salt lamps.
People have told me they do.
When I was a teen, my two favorite book series were The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and The Stainless Steel Rat.
I chose Trillian from the HGTTG as my sn. Trillian was a nickname for the character Tricia McMillan.
Thanks for chiming in, Rita. Love your explanation. I don’t know why I never realized you’re in Texas. Perhaps it’s because TX and OK are so closely related, I never noticed.
Funny story. Thanks for sharing it!
I always think of that anteater in the BC comics when I see your handle. Yeah, I’m that old too.
Pcpoet = personnel computer poet....not politically correct poet. A lot of people on line thought that it was that... I got that moniker 20 years ago because in chat rooms I would do poetry off the cuff when I was depressed and no one would chat with me in any meaningful way.
My husband and I were fooling around one night and he told me that I had better watch out or he’d put me outside and it’s cold down in that doorway. I responded,”especially if the little matchgirl has to use all her matches to keep warm.”

I picked mine because of my love of Star Trek and the USS Enterprise. It’s the neatest looking spaceship ever.
cool. Thanks for the head’s up!
I know that tail number well, so I had that part figured out. I agree with you about the USS Enterprise. She's the most beautiful spaceship in sci-fi.
I think you meant, 'personal' computer.
I spent a lot of years writing poetry myself. Came in handy when I became a musician. I already had reams of lyrics at hand.
