“I fired a shot at him, cause I didn’t want him coming back” says 17 year old Kimber Wood, describing the action when a man on the run from the law KHQ Reports:
It’s an unbelievable story that started as a pursuit with Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies. They made a traffic stop in North Spokane County, but they driver they were stopping took off. Deputies spent hours looking for him, and we reported that on the Wake Up Show Monday morning. It turns out Wood’s boyfriend was watching our newscast.
He called her to say there may be a bad guy in her neighborhood.
“I was laying in bed watching TV and my boyfriend called my parents. They warned me.”
So she asked her dad for a gun, put it under her pillow and went back to sleep. Until she heard the screen door open.
“I heard it close and that just doesn’t happen. I knew something was wrong,” Wood said.
Her gut said grab the gun. So she did, and she waited.
“I heard footsteps and he went upstairs,” she said.
She called her dad, who taught her everything she knows about guns, and he stayed with her on the phone as the footsteps got closer to her room.
“I was laying right there on the bed and he came in, and that’s when I crawled out, got the gun from my pillow…”
That’s when the unthinkable happened.
“He popped in and I said, ‘Who the [expletive] are you?'” Wood said. “His head was right there and I had the gun straight in his face and he ran.”

This turned out well. She probably should have fired when he opened her door. Unfortunately, now one criminal knows where he can find a gun and a 17 yr old woman. If I were parents I would be taking extra security precautions. Like building a moat around the house and filling it with saltwater Crocs.

Washington State. In Spokane there is a good chance a home robber would meet such a reaction. In Seattle, home of snowflakes and Communists, not so much.

5. Speak to police and media only through a competent lawyer.

If she knew he was in the house why did she wait to get the gun from under the pillow? Too bad she didn’t hit him.
You have a great memory. I also thought the name sounded familiar - and you nailed it! Yes, indeed. Clinton did nominate a Kimber Wood, attorney, for AG but she withdrew because she had an employee in her home who was undocumented and Kimber had not paid any SS taxes for her. At least that is what my memory tells me. Instead we were stuck with Janet Reno.

Why is the girl alone? Doesn’t live with her parents? Were they on vacation? Boyfriend calls parents who are not where his girlfriend is?

Looking back, she probably would have been a bette bet than Reno. Nannygate looks like small potatoes when the alternagive is a vindicgive butch dyke.
I don’t wish to seem to be picking at nits, but the AG nominee was Kimba Wood.
