Politico Absurdly Hypes Supposed Resurgence of John Birch Society
NewsBusters ^ | July 16, 2017 | P.J. Gladnick

Remember the mighty Coffee Party which at one time had grown to a total of 200,000 members? Oh, you wonder where that laughably inflated figure comes from? Well, it was made up by Steve Tuttle of Newsweek (now with fewer readers than the real members of the Coffee Party). The purpose of that very obvious fake news was to hype a leftwing version of the Tea Party back in 2010 despite the fact that it numbered in the dozens at most.

Well, the latest fake news comes to us by way of Politico in which writer John Savage is hyping a supposed resurgence of, get this, the John Birch Society. He offers absolutely no statistics to back up his case. Of course, the real reason for his fact-free hyping of the John Birch Society is to promote the idea that its ideas are being adopted by the GOP in general and Trump supporters in particular. Right! As if anybody with any political sense even thinks about the early 60s era John Birch Society any more than they would think about the Whig Party.

Here is Savage's pitch as he absurdly tries, with an ulterior motive, to get the fake news Politico readers to believe that The John Birch Society Is Back.

“What’s so bad about the John Birch Society? They have proven to be more accurate than the average college professor.”

Precisely this.

You are correct Governor. My guess as to why the files have not been released is due to race and political correctness. Truth and facts are the first casualty.

They were correct. Martin King was a commie, or at least a pinko sympathizer

My Father took me to Birch Society meetings in 65-66.

That was exactly what they said when asked: MLK wasn't a Communist outright, but he was "pink", a sympathizer.

Turned out to be absolutely true and no one at the time would even breath such a thing.

The Civil Rights Act of '64 that Barry Goldwater and the JBS opposed has turned out to be every bad thing they warned about, first and foremost its un-Constitutionality.

The older I get the more the things they said come true.

JBS was dead on. Had we taken their path in '65 the entire world would be far better now. It took Reagan - a man they agreed with - to fix much of the disasters the Rat party inflicted on us between 1960 and 1980. But he couldn't do everything.

I frequented American Opinion Libraries almost 40 years ago. It was beneficial, to say the least.

I must be stupid if what you say is correct. I always thought the Goldwater against civil rights was dumb. LBJ won the election and a year later the Great Society was born. Had Goldwater been for civil rights then maybe the republicans would have Won the White House and the Great Society would have not happened. What exactly is wrong with Constitutional Rights for all American Citizens?!

OK. Re the JBS. It was led by people who took anti-communism to extremes without the proper knowledge about communism, how to put information about it INTO THE PROPER CONTEXT, and it allowed some outlandish people to become their leaders. I knew some of them at a local level. Also knew a couple congressmen who were members (Nice people but some of them had less than desirable prejudices and distorted views).

On occasion, the JBS publication featured some good writers on Internal Security including Rep. Larry McDonald (D-GA), who was among those shot down by the Soviets in flight KAL 007.

Today, the JBS could hold a national convention in a Birch John or two. They have ceased to be relevant in the research world of internal security and intelligence thought, again, one or two of their writers are pretty good in certain areas, and often pretty much on the mark.

However, the JBS is the “new” boogeyman of the Left since they haven’t hurt the Tea Party despite years of slanderous attacks and lies about them.

In fact, those who consistently attack the Tea Party are “secret” members of a new leftist party, the “TPP” (Toilet Paper Party). Why that name? Easy - because they are full of crap.

Re Dr. King. He was at one time an anti-communist but get “sandwiched” in between two CPUSA (Communist Party USA)/ KGB agent and suspected operative, named Stanley Levison (admitted CPer and KGB money handler for the Party), and Hunter Pitts O’Dell (Jack O’Dell in the anti-Vietnam, Anti-Defense Lobbies and identified CPUSA leader in the South and member of the CP’s National Committee in the late 50’s/early 60’s before he joined King and SCLC as King’s personal aide - See: “HCUA’s Report “Structure and Organization of the Communist Party of the United States”, Part 1, Nov. 20-22, 1961 (House Committee on Un-American Activities Committee), and the 1956 hearings on “Communist Infiltration and Activities in the South”, HCUA, Julyu 29-31, 1958).

Thus Dr. King was caught in a “KGB Sandwich” (tactic) that put two key advisors/aides on either side of him. After that, he never had a chance to remain middle of the road, as you can see in his later anti-Vietnam speeches, the April 1967 on at Riverside Church (run by hardcore leftists including Rev. William Sloan Coffin, Jr.). In fact, this speech featured two typically Red Chinese terms, “purveyor” as in the “U.S, was the greatest purveyor of violence in history” (close to accurate without a direct copy of the speech), and the word “machinations”.

Prof. David Garrow in his book “The FBI and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr” unknowingly revealed a lot about the communist sympathizers of key Southern Christian Leadership Conference regional and national leaders. Rev. Shuttlesworth was the worst, with Rev. W. T. Wyatt also in there, later joined by Rev. Jesse Jackson Jr. who hired O’Dell when King supposedly fired him for his communist affiliations (it didn’t really happen that way. O’Dell went to work for the NY SCLC branch and later joined Jackson’s “Operation Breadbasket/Operation PUSH” which later became the “National Rainbow Coalition”. O’Dell was the International Affairs Director for all three of these supposedly “domestic” organizations but they had ties to Assad in Syria, the leftist militia/klans in Lebanon, and the PLO. O’Dell was a key supporter of the PLO front in the US, the Palestine Human Rights Campaign, and the later “united front” known as the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee” (ADC). (A major story on O’Dell appeared in the important “Jewish Week” (DC) in the late 1970’s/early 80’s.

You will find a lot of supporting documentation on O’Dell at both www.DiscoverTheNetwork.org and “www.keywiki.org”.

Now as to getting his files opened, it isn’t going to happen right now though people can file Freedom of Information Act requests and see what kind of reply they receive as to why they can’t be opened. Besides King’s contacts with Communist Party USA members (some of whom he did not know were Party members) and their influence on him, there were other issues that will definitely be kept from being declassified for many decades (and to some degree, rightfully so, though historians will have shit fits if they ever find out was they were).

Dr. King Jr. was, like several other key American leaders, used by the Soviets/CPUSA for communist aims, often without knowing it. This applied to Albert Einstein, Robert Oppenheimer, and even Angela Davis (A Red Diaper Baby), because all of them were caught in that “KGB Sandwich” and often didn’t know it. Angela Davis was born into a Party family and her educational path was all in the hands of key CPUSA people including a scholarship to the Little Red School House in NYC (Rev. Melish’s name comes to mind -CPUSA member); Prof. Don Kalish (UCLA or UC Berkeley), admitted to “the left of the CPUSA” but a supporter of many of its fronts including the anti-Vietnam “Mobes”; and many of those who led fundraising efforts by the “Committee to Free Angela Davis” and “other political prisoners”.

Oh, re Einstein, his personal secretary in German, Helen Duka, “was involved in Soviet underground work”. See pages 278-279 for MUCH MORE SHOCKING INFORMATION on communist affiliations of Einstein in the early 1930’s, “The Venona Secrets: Exposing Soviet Espionage and America’s Traitors”, Herbert Romerstein and Eric Breindel, Regnery, 2000.

His personal assistant at Princeton Un, and who later fought to gain control of Eistein’s papers, was identified CPUSA member and German Communist Party member Otto Nathan. Identifications of him are in the House Internal Security Committee’ Staff Study, “Subversive Involvement in the Origin, Leadership, and Activities of the New Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam and Its Predecessor Organizations”, 1970.

If one opens the Martin Luther King Jr. files for studying, one will open up a can of worms the size of those in the movie “DUNE”. However, in the search for the truth, sometimes you have to open and unleash facts that people just don’t want to know or acknowledge. They are called “THE TRUTH”, something the American hates with a passion equal to that they have for Pres. Trump.

“The truth? You can’t handle the truth”. Jack Nicholson summed of the dilemma perfectly in “A Few Good Men”.

As a historian I say, “Bring It On”. If I couldn’t take what I would see, then I should not be a historian. I’d be a Democrat/Liberal instead.

The book “Racial Matters” contains the FBI files on King. Your analysis is spot on concerning communist compromise, while noting that Kng was personally put off by Maoists and, like the New Left, by the word “communism.” King was in fact a Republican as was John Lennon. Nonetheless, all leftists advance the ball in the wrong direction in their compromise of soul, knowing their immoral choices.

There were already rights for all Americans. The Civil Rights Acts brought the federal government into absolutely everything and reduced the states to zeros on the map. All these insane court decisions punishing people for not wanting to be involved in homo weddings are the same line of reasoning.

If I do not want to sell my house to you because I don’t like the shape of your head then that is my business not that of federal bureaucrats.

A recent documentary stated that boxing great Joe Louis was “not free” because he could not buy a house in a snotty New Jersey lake-front suburb. Louis moved around everywhere, made buckets of money, was wildly popular by fight fans of all races, and yet this documentary stated he was not free. The fact is that snotty suburb had the right of freedom of association and if their homeowners did not want “The Brown Bomber” in their neighborhood they were free not to take his money.

What us the name of the society for the preservation of wooden toilet seats?

The Birch John society.

My point? Change the name, retain the core values. The oppositional obstructionist party does this routinely.
