"No burglar, but at least I got to shoot something!"

(KARE) Surveillance video posted to Facebook early Sunday morning shows a Minneapolis, Minnesota police officer shooting two dogs in the owner's fenced-in backyard.
Police issued a statement Sunday saying that officers were responding to a residential burglary alarm when the shooting occurred.
In the video, a dog is seen approaching the officer in the north Minneapolis yard. The officer backs away and shoots the dog, and then a second dog runs in and the officer appears to shoot that dog as well. The dogs run away and the officer can be seen climbing the fence and leaving the yard.
The police report states that "two large size pitbulls charged at officer" before he fired at them.

[ Saw the video, the dogs were NOT aggressive and not attacking the cop. He just shot them in cold blood. What is wrong with these cops?

What is wrong with them is that they have a license to kill that comes in the form of saying that they “were in fear for their life”.
If you have a badge you can do almost anything so long as you use the magic words:
“I was in fear for my life”
“He/she/it lunged at me”
“Officer safety was at stake”
“It was justifiable force”
And don’t forget that to get away with all of this they have to make sure it’s not caught on video and that’s why these days if you REALLY want to provoke the police you don’t aim a gun at them, you aim a CAMERA at them!
The dog was not in an aggressive mood, tail wagging and all. Appears to me that the cop simply panicked. If the dogs were a concern for him, he should have asked the owner to take them inside or something.
The dogs were not aggressive but they were pretty tough. Both survived the shooting.

Too bad the dogs weren’t K9 cops. The cop would’ve got at least a $1000 fine and up to 10 yrs in prison.

No, not really; a number of cops have let their K9’s perish in hot patrol cars, and nothing happened to them. There are different sets of laws in this country.

It’s not a case of cop hating to think that it is wrong for an officer to enter a yard and shoot dead the god that’s in there, just because he can. He could have left the yard and dogs alone.

That is just it!! The dogs were not wanted for burglary, were not in the process of burglary, were not resisting arrest. So why did the cop shot them? The cop is sick, twisted and should not only be fired but put in jail himself.
