No, not really; a number of cops have let their K9’s perish in hot patrol cars, and nothing happened to them. There are different sets of laws in this country.

Yeah, that happened here in GA recently in my county...now that you mention it.

The cop left the K9 in the car. Once that one was dead, they received a tip about another of his dogs that had died back in 2012...he had initially said it had choked on a ball, but it turns out the cop had shot it. Then, when searching for the second dog’s remains, they found another buried in his yard killed by gunshot. It was the most recent dog’s grandmother. He may go away for a while...
