Same thing. I remember smashing my finger at my friends house and laying on the couch crying (I was twelve) and their boxer came up to me and laid her head on my lap and just stayed there, sat on the floor with her head on my lap, was better than a Tylenol (which was given).

Notice the wrinkled forehead on the dog? Now that’s real concern.

We haven’t come near to fathoming the ‘knowledge’ of animals yet.
I think there is still a lot to learn about this - and there is more to it than the size of the critter’s brain.
(Elephants interest me a lot, though...)

Thank you!
I had a pretty tough day and this thread, and all the posts put a smile on my face. Not easy to do.

NEAR THIS SPOT
ARE DEPOSITED THE REMAINS OF ONE
WHO POSSESSED BEAUTY WITHOUT VANITY
STRENGTH WITHOUT INSOLENCE
COURAGE WITHOUT FEROCITY
AND ALL THE VIRTUES OF MAN WITHOUT HIS VICES
THIS PRAISE WHICH WOULD BE UNMEANING FLATTERY
IF INSCRIBED OVER HUMAN ASHES
IS BUT A JUST TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF
BOATSWAIN, A DOG
WHO WAS BORN AT NEWFOUNDLAND, MAY 1803,
AND DIED AT NEWSTEAD, NOVEMBER 18, 1808.

The old lady with her calf.
Something very special.
I keep thinking of “Giants in the Earth”, (second book), the cow that came across the plains, now old and given special care...

Dogs should never fall ‘unhonored and unnoticed’.
It seems that we’ve honored horses more - (and we should honor them - civilization was built upon the backs of horses) - but it was built upon the loyalty of our dog helpmates, as well.
(Great thread!)

This watercolor of a Hare by Albrecht Durer, probably the greatest watercolor ever made by any artist, is as much or more alive than any live specimen of this animal.

Iconic painting. Stateside, purveyor of exquisite detail, we have our own Andrew Wyeth.

Animals have far more loyalty to their human friends than CNN has to America.

Very cute. I had an encounter with a friend’s siamese kitten last weekend, it was adorable, and very very playful. Good times were had.
No cute pics to post, sadly.
