New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was photographed lounging at a deserted state-owned beach on Sunday a beach that has been closed to all other New Jerseyans amid a government shutdown that Christie ordered Friday.
The photos, which were posted to NJ Advance Medias NJ.com, showed Christie and his family hanging out at the Island Beach State Park on Sunday afternoon before Christie appeared in Trenton for a press conference on the shutdown.
Christie on Friday ordered the shutdown of nonessential services including state parks amid a stalemate over whether to include legislation affecting the states largest health insurer in the budget.

Yeah, let ‘em eat cake. Fiddle while Rome burns (it never ends well)
You’re right about his future.
The beached whale meme... beached on his own private beach... will play badly for a long time.
Crap like that is all you ever see on a New Jersey beach.
I work in New Jersey and every single person in my office spent at least five minutes talking about Christie on the beach.
To my mind, the less time contemplating Chris Christie on a beach, the better...
This is the sort of thing that sticks with people. Like the Bridge thing. People cared about that, even though it was about nothing.
People don’t understand politics, so they grab onto something they can understand. Screwing up traffic for political payback, they understand. Sunning yourself on a beach you just ordered closed on the 4th of July weekend, that they understand.
Christie could not be elected to anything before this... whatever the hell this is. The only question is whether or not he drags Kim Guadagno down with him.
Is he he tanking Guadagno on purpose?
Lifeguards not on duty — liability of the state for anything that occurs at an unattended beach.
Oh boy, more Christie camel toe.

AMEN!!! to that.
I know it has been a while, but I truly believed the House Banking Scandal would have drained the swamp because we ALL know that the bank does not pay, then hold onto your check until you get around to making a deposit to cover it.
And your local PO/Bank does not sell you a book of 6 3 cent stamps and allow you to pay for it with a constituents 100 dollar check.
It doesn’t matter how well your bank ‘knows’ you, they just can’t take a chance of a surprise audit ‘tomorrow’.
That is what happens when you get to write the rules.
Along about the same time the CC Cos came up with the brilliant idea of consolidating cards....
Of course one Cong Jim Moron (D-VA) was on the banking committee and soon after the Legislation relaxing the rules of who could get credit etc passed, something ‘leaked’ out about Moron(sic) getting SEVERAL CCs consolidated, then ‘forgiven’.....
Which ‘they’ may have offered that to all BUT it is kind of ‘different’ when the guy writing the rules gets ‘treated’.

Yeah.....the beaches of nj extend it entire length. The NJ public beach requires you to drive through a fixed portal and park in their lot. If you enter the whole state long beach from any of the private roads. You can walk north or south to wherever you like. Any of the beach towns that the sob Sisters cried about after the hurricane are open to make money.
His (or rather the Governor’s) summer house is there. How many casual visitors’ summer houses are in state parks? If a RAT Governor did the same, would the story even be covered?
Thank Goodness...no speedo!
Since there are no park staff to enforce closure, anyone willing to take the trouble to enter past locked gates can do so. You can swim from the next beach up easily enough.
I thought Christie had political smarts. Surely he can see the bad of him enjoying a beach in private that he closed to the public? Bet he does this morning.
Moronic on his behalf
How about putting the blame where it belongs, on the RAT dominated New Jersey legislature? If they’d done their jobs it would not be an issue.
Largess is personified as the swamp eats a beach.
The picture is on the front page of NJ’s main paper. Of course, a picture is worth a thousand words, and most people will just look at the picture, knowing the political situation, but not read into it more. It is all over Fox right now.
I think Christie was stupid for going there, even tho the public parks shut down was not his doing. But ————
He also threw under the bus his aides who I bet he ordered to close the bridge.
You cannot access this beach. The front gate is blocked and people are not allowed to walk onto it from other areas of access.
You replied to someone asking, "How do you close a beach?" I just supplied the link to show you how it is done. Yes, it stinks. Other state parks are closed, as well. It all stinks!
