It was the fat joke heard ‘round the world. Pope Francis, speaking with Donald and Melania Trump during their recent visit, asked the first lady whether she’d been feeding her husband potica, a rich Slovenian dessert.
His Holiness wasn’t the only one eyeballing the president’s diet. Recently, the public learned that the White House kitchen staff knows to deliver their boss extra Thousand Island dressing and a double serving of ice cream while his guests get vinaigrette and a single scoop of vanilla, triggering sniggers about presidential gluttony.
And since Trump so shamelessly slings stingingly personal insults tied to fitness and body type — from “Miss Piggy” to “fat pig” to “Little Marco” – why resist the urge to poke his proverbial soft underbelly?
We should resist, because Trump’s attitudes toward healthy eating and exercise aren’t a joke — they have serious consequences for the nation’s health. First, they mark a dramatic pivot from his presidential predecessors on both sides of the aisle. Previous presidents saw projecting a personal embrace of healthy living as politically attractive, while Trump perceives just the opposite.

I'm nearly 60 and I couldn't come close to keeping the schedule that Donald Trump kept during his campaign. And I don't know anyone else my age who could either. That last week of campaigning would have killed me for sure!

Oh for goodness sakes. The pope once went to Slovenia and discovered that this is a national specialty - potica. It's just a normal human remark. I looked it up and wouldn't mind some gook potica myself.

Did the Pope even mean that as a joke about the resident’s weight, or it was a reference to the First Lady’s being Slovenian. It seems like they never cool at home anyway. Who knows if either of them can even cook?
Did he ask Frau Merkel’s husband what he was stuffing her with? Or Maduro’s wife? Of course not.
If you had any chef in the world at your beck & call, how much cooking would you do?
Nothing wrong with this Pope that a choke slam across the bar top wouldn’t cure.
The rejected press are on a roll today attempting to needle the president. This is a fine example of how out of touch they are. They put out fake stories saying the president is clueless on health insurance. Do they have any proof? Do they care?

I doubt that Hillary has EVER been able to cook and that may be one of the reasons old Bubba sought a whole LOT of things outside of that "marriage".
We DO know that the president's mother did cook ( which I highly doubt that the past FIVE president's mothers EVER did.

That’s a good point. Obola was one lazy azz man. Trump has energy for 10 people.
It never occurs to the Trumphaters that maybe his guests prefer vinaigrette and one scoop if not no ice cream? Of all the crap that’s thrown at Trump, I’ve never heard anyone say he is a bad host.
Personally, I would still cook. No substitute for doing your own cooking. Do the Trump’s have a personal chef? It seems like they go to restaurants or take out a lot?
