The global obesity epidemic continues, and a new report shows that about two billion people worldwide are overweight or obese. That's about 30% of the world's population.
The new study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that about a third of the global populationincluding adults and childrenexceed a healthy weight. About 10% of people in the world are obese, according to the findings. Love the Hitch & that’s a great quote. Man I miss him.
Vegan isn’t that healthy. Vegetables are fantastic but a lot of vegans eat a ton of starchy carbs that aren’t all that natural or healthful. We need animal protein, though if some really wish to be vegan, that is their choice. Vegetarian, with dairy, eggs, and fish allowed is better.
I hope the people on Guam don’t get too heavy. We have a major air base there!
I could never be a vegan, but my brother brought me to this bakery in Asheville a few years ago. We both got fudge cupcakes w/ fudge frosting & we ate them in his truck. After we finished he told me they were vegan.
How this woman did it I don’t know, but they were moist & buttery & to this day the most fantastic cupcake I’ve ever eaten. Weird but true.
Another leftist prediction bites the dust. We should bear that in mind when thinking about "global warming."
This would not be that big a problem if airplane seats were a little wider. :-(
I dread flying partially because of several experiences being squeezed in between two “large” individuals.
Sometimes we have to make desserts vegan to eat after a meat meal, and the key is good quality coconut oil. And of course chocolate - I bet she used good quality chocolate.
I’m watching a pro-vegan documentary called Forks Over Knives.
Someone posted a free link to it. Skip past the first four or five minutes:

Interesting - growing up and seeing those old TV shows (they were just a bit before my time) - it was obvious that that kid (Spanky?) was the “fat kid”. Looking at that photo today in comparison to the fat kids today he looks pretty slim!
We’re all gonna die!
Which is, in turn, an artificial number arbitrarily set.
All my life the medical community has been changing their targets, for one reason or another.
Other organizations (non-medical) change their targets too, for other reasons. Want to be able to say the population is xx% obese? Change the standard for obesity downwards and watch the number increase. Strange how that happens.
And oh, look, so many fat people! We need to implement OUR rules to fight obesity/insert your favorite ailment here!
AND, we need more grant money to do it!
I see lots of children drinking full sugar bottled Coke in Mexico. Even the natives can’t drink the water.
Such a health epidemic—with everything from heart attacks to strokes to diabetes and of course cancer increased with obesity—are you expecting that doctors will only study and report on this with some sort of holistic perspective. As in “jolly personalities make for agreeable neighbors and dedicated aunts and uncles”, or whatever?
Oops -my bad. Meant to say “1dollar 90cents an hour”.
Not pure keto but just do no carbs, no sugar, no prepared foods and the weight will fall off. Up your fats. It’s not that hard.
All these different named diets make it too hard.
I have never cooked or baked using coconut oil. You’re definitely correct about using good chocolate.
Pretty much! ; )
Once you accept that, there’s little worry about.
Good point! Yes. I am sick of the ‘euro’ holier than thou attitude.
