A new study shows that coconut oil isnt as healthy as many believed it was. In fact, its not healthy at all.
According to the American Heart Association, a recent survey showed that 72 percent of Americans surveyed rated coconut oil as a healthy food, compared to 37 percent of nutritionists.
The report went on to say that the saturated fat content of coconut oil is 82 percent, which is the bad type of fat. A chart in the document shows that coconut oil has more saturated fat than lard, canola oil or even butter.
The results of a study conducted by the AHA show that coconut oil increases LDL cholesterol and has "no known offsetting favorable effects." The AHA concluded that they advise against the use of coconut oil.
Olive oil and vegetable oil are considered to be better alternatives.

OK, so we’re warned.
Now, can you tell us which brands are the real deal?
By the way, low-carb dieters get excellent blood test results.
Hell yeah, Fat Adapted Ketgenic diet is the way to go!
Great on popcorn though. Does the STUDY show it’s ok on popcorn?

Yeah, you might die at age 86 3/4 instead of 87
Jury is still out on caffeine and salt as well.
Cis-fats are fats that know that they're fats from the git-go, no confusion there.
Trans-fats are non-fats that identify as fats. Think of them as confused fats.
Got that?

Also, whale oil for lamps. Ban electricity!
I thought the problem was polyunsaturated fat, like in margarine and safflower oil.
But it’s great with lime.
Idiots. Coconut oil and avocados are critical to nervous system health. The demonization of fats in favor of carbs was disastrous to 2 generations of Americans — with massively increased rates of Alzeimer’s, Parkinson’s, MS and other neurological disorders as a result. Remember the promotion of margarine over butter, and urging people to cut down on eggs and egg yolks? Also contributed horribly.
Coconut oil is great for making popcorn. Popcorn made with coconut oil needs butter or the salt won't stick to it.
So, unhydrogenated saturated fat is ok, hydrogenated saturated fat is not?
I haven’t heard of cis fat.
I was wondering the same - maybe in the Latin (or whatever) it has meaning. Trans-fats, trans-gender, etc.
“Coconut oil and avocados are critical to nervous system health.”
I’m guessing that there are alternatives? Growing up in Minnesota I can tell you that we never had any of that stuff growing up. (Now butter - that’s something I can talk about!)
Coconut oil makes the best popcorn.
There’s no money in a healthy populace.
It is. The AHA is lying.
