From what I can remember, NYPD had obtained Wiener’s computer with the emails Huma sent, plus the “life insurance” file and was threatening to go public with them. Additionally Comey had promised Congress in earlier testimony if anything new came up he would inform them. It was CYA to protect Hillary from the Wiener NYPD disclosure.
Yes. This is history being made. Trump is opening up and exposing many cans of worms and I do believe Trump is the only person who can take all of this on. He is a fighter and that is what we have needed all along.
Thank you. In general, I am trusting and consider poor execution far more likely than actual malice. In the case of big government and the deep state, that may be poor execution/reasoning on my part. Mission creep in government creates an opportunity for nearly unlimited power, which attracts genuinely bad people and then brings out the worst in them.

Now, am I correct in saying that since his pre-statement (also was a press release) was NOT made or put on paper by him under oath that any lies in it are exempt from perjury....and since he purposefully didn't repeat or read it under oath on the morning of the hearing, it's just another piece of paper, safe from being parsed for perjury?

A forensic IT guy could most likely find the memos on one of the FBI computers, or Comey’s personal computers.
Authorities should go to every FBI computer, and every agent’s computers, and find the memos.
Or at least traces of them.
Comey is part of the shadow government that infest the swamp of DC and needs to be purged with all the rest.
