We Should Thank Millennials for Ruining These Terrible Products
New York Post ^ | June 10, 2017 | Jennifer Wright

Millennials are, according to Business Insider earlier this month, “Killing Chains Like Buffalo Wild Wings and Applebee’s.” This isn’t the first thing that we’ve killed and/or destroyed by stubbornly refusing to spend money on it. Last year millennials got accused of wiping out everything from mass-market beers like Budweiser and Coors to the diamond industry to bar soap.

And, on behalf of all millennials, I can only say: You’re welcome.

Because these institutions we’re obliterating are awful.

He is wrong about bar soap being unsanitary. Bar soap is fine to use. There is bacteria found on bar soap but it is not likely to make you ill and washing with bar soap still gets you clean.

PS. In the interest of full disclosure, I make soap.

we Boomers took out Target

Nope. Here in the buckle of the Bible belt (Tulsa), "Christians" would rather go shopping than stand for righteousness. Target is faring well.

Interesting. I suppose your son thinks germs can be passed around via the soap bar. You might ask the lad, if germs can live on a bar of soap, what’s the point of washing with it at all? 1. Nobody in our house uses MY bar of Dial Anti-bacterial soap except ME, in MY shower. 2. At the vanity in all our bathrooms are pump bottles of foaming hand soap. That should brighten the young man’s day. Blessings on you and yours.

“Meanwhile, it’s become a cliché for baby boomers to malign millennials for consuming too much avocado toast. Which means ... baby boomers are mad because we’re enthusiastically eating fresh vegetables on whole grain breads?”

Avocados are fruit, not vegetables. I do think the line about doing what “we” bugged them to do for the first 12 years of their lives was pretty good though. I’m a boomer and my mother was one of the first “health food nuts”. I grew up eating nothing but whole wheat everything, “sand and gravel bread” as we used to call it.

OMG, THEY KILLED MUSIC

By refusing to pay for decent music, they morphed it into a pornographic side show - offensive to eye and ear.

for consuming too much avocado toast

Darn. My 23-year-old son has been eating avocado toast. I buy him the whole-grain bread at the "used bread store" for $.79 a loaf (and buy-3-get-1-free).

I find avocadoes revolting. I told him that he needs to wash-rinse-dry-putaway the bowl he mashed the avocadoes in, instead of leaving it in the sink for the help. Otherwise, when I find avocadoes in the kitchen, I will give them to the neighbors.

Straightened right up, he did.

Isn’t bar soap more “green” than liquid soap? Liquid soap has a lot more plastic packaging?

I love avocado, but why eat in on toast? My favorite way to eat avocado is to slice it open and eat it with a spoon.

Bar Soap, by definition, is self-cleaning.

“””Real men don’t drop the soap. And yes, I’ve heard all the double entendres about THAT, too.”””

I drop mine in the shower all the time. I don’t get it.

I guess it’s just “a thing.” I like a fried egg on toast, myself.

Things I will not clean up without making a stink include avocadoes, Greek yogurt, and peanut butter ... all favorites of Bill the Son, who will find his rent going up, now that he has a “real job,” until it’s worth his while to get his own apartment. How cheap to you have to be, one wonders, to continue sharing a bathroom with 8 siblings, when you could get your own place, not matter how small?

Applause! Applause! Applause!

Got no complaints about that one.

Maybe he just like the companionship of his dear siblings, and the gentle guidance of his honored parents?

Same here. I got a nice blue topaz, mined in the U.S., when I got engaged 30 years ago.

From someone who spends $.60 for bread, you mean?

“You’ll never be poor, Bill,” I told him, when he said he would do without cough medicine rather than buy it at the store where he worked. Builds up your immune system, too.

“I know of no one who will mourn Applebees. I never even understood who would go there in the first place, except as a “let’s meet at” once in a while.”

the movie “Talladega Nights” explains perfectly who goes to Applebee’s and why.
