So, it is possible to get your tagline hacked here on FR?
“I think what happened is my tagline kicked your taglines arse.”
No argument here. Your tagline wins.
I like that one.
You needed too TXBLair But I love you too sassy like me.((((Hugs))))
Yep, I see it now. Had to clear my browser cache, restart the browser, change the bookmarks in the bookmark library, restart the browser, and THEN add the 'S' on the main forum page. At that point all the links on that page became HTTPS.
Prior to that, although the address bar URL was HTTPS, all the A HREF links on the page were still HTTP. Must have been a browser cache issue of some sort; can't think of any other explanation for the symptom. Anyway, better now. :-)
Thanks again.
However, my FreeRepublic GreaseMonkey script tool for posting comments stopped working. Seems the default "Script Settings" only included the HTTP addresses. So in Tools -> AddOns -> User Scripts -> FR Posting Form Enhancer -> Preferences -> User Settings, I added the HTTPS equivalents of the URLs listed in the "Script Settings" tab. Et Voila! Eet ees working again!
I think you punked yourself....at this post, right here....

Interesting thread indeed.
As a general rule, I look at the world I was told was reality. Then I model a world in my mind, where billions of individuals, some quite smart, some quite immoral, and some quite bold, all have operated with aggressive self-interest for thousands of years, to the point of actually gaining the reins of power at times and being totally immune from consequences.
If you compare the two models, you will realize most of what you have been told is reality today should be utter bullshit.
If that helps.
See tagline.
Still shows not secure for me, what address are you using for loggin in?
This belongs in “Beeking News”.
Worse: Sean Hannity was nearly fired because of my tag line.
I remember that post, but sure don’t remember changing my tag line.
The site connection over HTTPS (TCP 443) is secure. This ensures traffic (your whereabouts, post texts, etc.) are encrypted in transit. They’re viewable on the site, but the transmission cannot be tampered with.
The login FORM on https://freerepublic.com/perl/login is NOT secure. If I check the debugger on the site, I see three warnings:
http://freerepublic.com/l/common.css
http://freerepublic.com/l/common.js
Password field form action insecure
These three items need to be fixed in the HTML code in order to resolve this issue. Not sure if anyone has a line to Jim or John, but these are the only pieces left insecure that I can find.
You probably deleted it by accident.
Sorry, this is incorrect. Please see my previous response to dayglored. This is a problem with the base HTML code for the login form. The SITE is secure (little green lock), but the password form is not.
I've used Wireshark to sniff the traffic between my computer and FR, and I've confirmed that my PW is still passed in cleartext.
Thanks for the suggestion. Never have used Sync but the instructions say I need to have Firefox installed on another mobile device to use. The only other device I use with a browser is my iPad and it comes with the Safari browser. Looks like I should read instructions on how to backup my profile before I uninstall and reinstall Firefox.
