It all started when I watched A Dog's Purpose.
Ripped my fricken heart out. I am a tough mofo, but animals are my soft spot.
Have been thinking about adding a dog to the family.
Looks good!
Great dogs.
Australian Shepherds are a little more sedate than Border Collies. My SIL had two Borders - they were too hyper even for me.
Thx. I am too old for hyper.;-)
Could you at least give a brief description of the movie. I don’t want to click a link I have no idea about.
If a man must shed tears, it is okay if those tears are for a dog.
Lot's of doggie/K-9 stuff and lot's of good Marine stuff. Bravery and love of animals.
You'll like it.
The link is to Youtube. Not a dangerous place, unless you disable your porn filter.
If you like dogs and Marines...you'll like it.
The Power of the Dog
There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie —
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find — it’s your own affair —
But . . . you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit hat answered your every mood
Is gone — wherever it goes — for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.
We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept’em, the more do we grieve;
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long —
So why in — Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
Never shed a tear for a human. Not sure why? Figured that was God's business.
That said, I have done a lot of praying for humans.
Never heard of the movie, but Kate Mara is smoking hot!
I have never posted a post like that, maybe I should have indicated it is from Rudyard Kipling.
American Bulldog.
The original bulldog before the English bread ‘em with a pug. Were in the colonies so didn’t get turned into a house pet. Get mixed up with pits, as pities are American bulldog and Terrier, love pities but AB’s are way more mellow, unless they have something to hunt, and then they are as good as it gets, but very relaxed otherwise. Actually the official dog of the Marine corps (although illustrations often picture English bulldogs).
