The consensus with most conservatives is Ronald Reagan was the greatest conservative President ever. However, Reagan had a few strikes as a conservative, such as passing amnesty or appointing two moderates to the Supreme Court.
What do you believe President Trump must accomplish as President to be considered a greater President than Reagan?
It seemed like small change at the time, and the dems were not all pro illegals back then.
I think you're looking back with rose colored glasses. I was an adult in 1986, and well remember the push for amnesty as being very much a big deal. The left put tremendous pressure on Reagan to sign it, all the while promising;
"This will be the first and last amnesty, and we'll build a border fence to stop future illegal immigration, if you'll just sign it."
Naturally, they were lying through their teeth. I felt so at the time, and Reagan should have too. Why he trusted those bastards, I'll never know.
TRUMP: Thanks, Ron. By the way, sorry about stealing your line, "Make American Great Again."
REAGAN: No problem, Don. Well... the slogan is kind of useless to me at this point...
I hope you're sitting there wishing you could retract that statement, because it's a complete falsehood.
During his short three months in office, Trump has done more to fulfil his campaign promises than any president in living memory.
It's all documented on this very website. Maybe you should read here more often.
You’re a Trump cheerleader. We don’t know he’ll be a better president than Reagan when he just signed a trillion dollar budget that doesn’t include funding for a wall or address sanctuary cities.
...which is why it was suggested that Trump should replace him on Mount Rushmore.
Stating the plain truth about our president is now considered cheerleading?
Listen, I knew going in, that he would probably piss me off now and again, and he has. All I'm saying is that he's at least trying to keep his promises, and for my money, he's doing a fair job of it. That's not to say that I'm in foursquare agreement with everything he's done, or how he's gone about it.
I'm just giving the man a chance to do what he set out to do before condemning him. Heck, he's only been in office for three months.
On the other hand, the Soviets had been THE issue since we were little. Their evil imperialist socialism was death to everyone. It's why you had Thatcher, Reagan, the Pope, and others spending most of their time trying to fight them.
This took a huge amount of effort, and will. The rats, the media, the entire left made excuses for these evil people. Reagan took them out.
He also redid tax rates at the same time. Another biggie.
I still think you are blaming the wrong person, and that in 20/20 hindsight.
