Marijuana does not cure cancer (or the common cold)
American Thinker ^ | 05/03/2017 | Don Fisher Jr.

When it comes to spreading unfounded rumors, urban legends, and outright lies, the Internet is definitely the “Ignorance Superhighway.”  Obvious fallacies are allowed to breed and spread exponentially with just a click of a mouse.  As such, it’s fertile ground for the pro-marijuana crowd to disseminate their lies to gullible people who can’t seem to run a simple Google search in order to verify a claim.

Recently, I read a ridiculous meme that claimed 1) marijuana cured cancer, and 2) the government was keeping it from us.  Of course, it had several “likes” and affirming comments about the alleged curative powers of a drug that medical science hasn’t been able to find.  However; this is what passes for informed debate now; agreeing with a dubious claim and then disagreeing with all dissenting opinions.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, or, NORML, and the rest of the pro-pot stoners and liberals have wanted this for decades.  At first, they claimed they were for “decriminalization” and wailed and moaned about the mythical people who were thrown in prison to rot simply for possessing a seed of pot that was found by over-zealous police officers.  Lawyer and author Ann Coulter researched this claim and, not surprisingly, found that exactly zero people have ever been sent to prison just for possession of marijuana seeds or a single joint. In fact, the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BLS) figure for possession of marijuana alone (not just a seed or similar small amount) is around 0.7 percent

I'd add, "and it's none of your damned business what I grow in my backyard or smoke in my living room, so get back on your horse and ride the hell out of here."

That should be the bottom line in the Land of the Free.

That correlation is meaningless. They probably liked their beer, cigarettes, car, afternoon nap, etc...

My only issue with it personally is that it’s a waste of time. As long as I don’t have to pick up the slack for others through my labors or loss of freedom I couldn’t care less what others do. While I might have an opinion about it, as long as we’re off the hook for taking care of others poor decision consequences they can have at it.

“Marijuana doesn’t cure anything but inititave, ambition, and lack of appetite.”

As someone who began using cannabis as medicine in Feb 2015 I can assure you it doesn’t “cure” my initiative or my ambitions & to be honest, I rarely get the munchies from using it.

In fact, I went from taking 6 big pharma meds 2-3 times a day down to one for depression & anxiety: that one is cannabis. I thank my Heavenly Father daily for this wonderful medicine.

Not a big fan of pot. I grew up in an area where all (every last one) of my friends got high. I didn't and it made them paranoid when I would not partake. While I moved away from the area years ago I still keep in touch thru an annual get together and via the net.

Many of these friends still get high and are all about legalizing pot for it's health benefits. I keep quite on the subject but I find it ironic that so many of these friends have gone to their reward pretty early in life from disease/illness.

Still if someone loves pot so be it, but you can't convince me it's good for your health.

‘Jordan is well into her third decade with a disease that often kills within five years. She credits marijuana with slowing progression of the condition that destroys nerve cells, ultimately leading to total paralysis and death.

“This is keeping me alive,’’ she says. It also eases her symptoms such as muscle stiffening, drooling and chronic lung congestion. How does she know it’s working? Whenever she is hospitalized and can’t have pot, the symptoms come back.’

Don’t you know that the thick oily smoke from pot is good for your lungs

I quit smoking cigarettes a little over 3 years ago, but have used the devil's lettuce for 25 years now. Just had some tests done end of last year, including a CT scan of the lungs. Doc says my lungs look great and they are happy I quit the tobacco!

Interestingly enough, I've mostly been employed throughout my adult life, sans the time the KMART store I managed was closed down. I pay my taxes, get up every morning and go to work (perfect attendance) as a Digital Media Manager for a local media company where I interact with and work heavily in my local community and I stay involved with local, state and National politics as well.

To have people who haven't a friggin clue about it stand here and tell me all the nonsense, BS propaganda, and make stupid, idiotic claims about it just validates for me that Conservatives don't ACTUALLY believe in real freedom - they are ok with government control, so long as it's THEIR government control.

The ignorance is astonishing, really.

But that right is gone forever. We have embraced the nanny state.

All too often true; appeals "liberty" and "limited government" are mere tactics, used when they suit the predetermined ends and discarded when they don't.
