Is The Holocaust Over?

By Joel Leyden
Israel News Agency

Jerusalem, Israel — April 24, 2017 … Is the Holocaust really over?

We know that Adolph Hitler committed suicide with a bullet to the head. We know that US and Russian troops liberated concentration camps including Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald, Dachau, Sobibor, Treblinka and Auschwitz-Birkenau. That Jews were hung, shot and gassed to death. That their bodies were disposed in mass graves and in ovens.

We know that war crime trials were held in Nuremberg, Germany during 1945 and 1946. Judges from the Allied powers—Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and the United States—presided over the hearings of twenty-two major Nazi criminals. Twelve prominent Nazis were sentenced to death.

So, is the Holocaust really over?

The Holocaust, also referred to as the Shoah, was a genocide in which some six million European Jews were murdered. It began with a simple boycott of Jewish shops, racist hate speech and symbols of hate that were used to recruit and expand the numbers of those in the Nazi political party or as otherwise known as the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.

If the Holocaust is truly over then why do we still have thousands of people using the same Nazi hate speech, boycotts and symbols in 2017?

Like malignant cancer, you are not rid of it until each and every cell has been destroyed.

Yet today we permit Neo-Nazis to use the same hate speech and symbols against Jews. One only has to look at newspaper photos of destroyed Jewish graves with Nazi swatchkas painted over them, Nazi pamphlets distributed at colleges and in Jewish communities, Nazi symbols placed on New York City subway walls.

Or delve into social media, Facebook and Twitter where one can witness an abundance of Nazi hate speech, cartoons, videos and threats of placing Jews into ovens.

A recent example of the spread of Nazi, Alt-Right cancer was when Andrew Anglin, publisher of the largest hate website in the United States – The Daily Stormer, targeted a Jewish family in Whitefish, Montana.

Anglin was upset by false rumors that a white supremacist, Nazi party leader by the name of Richard Spencer had his mother attacked by a Jew in Whitefish. Anglin, a well-known neo-Nazi operating out of Ohio, then asked thousands of his followers to “take action” against Tanya Gersh. What resulted were hundreds of death threats towards Tanya, her children and her husband. These threats quickly spread to other Jews who reside in Montana.

Tanya received more than 700 harassing messages, including death threats, and a message on Twitter to her son suggesting that he pursue a free Xbox located inside an oven.

The Gersh family was forced to leave Whitefish for a few weeks as Anglin even called for an armed march in Whitefish, a march that would end at Gersh’s home.

Today, Tanya Gersh is no longer able to work and attends trauma therapy twice a week. It wasn’t a physical bullet, a hangman’s noose or gas that took Tanya down, but rather an emotional assault that attacked her through phone calls, text messages, malicious Christmas cards, tourist pamphlets from other states and Internet messages.

“You will be driven to the brink of suicide. & We will be there to take pleasure in your pain & eventual end,” one message said.

The Southern Poverty Law Center filed a lawsuit last week against the publisher of the popular Neo-Nazi, alt-right website, claiming that he orchestrated a “terror campaign” against a Jewish woman in Montana.

The lawsuit asserts that Andrew Anglin is liable to Gersh for invading her privacy, for inflicting emotional distress upon her and for violating the Montana Anti-Intimidation Act, in an amount of more than $75,000 for each count.

Will this lawsuit place an end to Nazi threats against Jews in the United States?
The answer is no.

Richard Spencer, the president of the National Policy Institute, his mentor – former KKK leader David Duke and Andrew Anglin use free speech laws to hide behind. They have created ties with leaders of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement.

Opposition to Israel and anti-Semitic attitudes have served as the bridge for partnerships between members of Neo-Nazi and BDS groups in Europe, including in Hungary, where the far-right and anti-Semitic Jobbik party has forged an alliance with Iran and Hezbollah officials.

The United Kingdom recently acted against Neo-Nazi groups, recognizing that their hate speech, marches and threats constituted acts of terror. The British neo-Nazi group National Action was labelled a terror organization and banned in a landmark first for the UK.

Why has US Congress failed to act against seeds of Nazi hate in the United States? Do we really believe that the racist hate which created the Holocaust is gone and buried?

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said yesterday that the allies could have saved 4 million Jews had they taken action. Is Congress going to ignore Jews today as they did during the Holocaust?

Why is it that if you support ISIS the FBI will arrest you but if you support Hitler who killed 200,000 US troops – it’s free speech!

Until Neo-Nazis in the United States are designated as terrorists, the shadows of the Holocaust will remain.
We urge you, your family and friends to sign and share the following petition to Congress – StopNeoNazis.com.

As long as we go about our daily lives ignoring Tanya Gersh, Nazi symbols on Jewish graves, boycotts against Jewish businesses, rampant hate speech on the Internet and callousness by the United States Congress, we are no different than the Jews of Berlin in 1936.

Oh, there are over 10,000 Neo-Nazis in the US. Name them!

Where did you get these figures - SPLC? FBI? ADL? Nobody knows how many extremists of any stripe there are in the U.S. and I’ve been in the research field of tracking these people for over 40 years.

And by the way, I’ve met and even talked to some of the worst (some probably from before your time - J. B. Stoner - ThunderBolt, American Nazi Party, Liberty Lobby, Aryan Nation, Qaddafi-Libyan lobbyist, PLO recruiter, Communists, etc. Even attended the “Million Man March” of Calypso Louie in 1995. No problems. Guess the real hatemongers were in the upfront seats. Us po white folk had to stand with the masses and wait for the Mother Ship to come and take Louis away.

Even attended an Nazi-Klan rally in Maryland (Brentwood) many years ago. Looked and smelled like Nazi Germany of 1938. Had a hard time figuring who were the other undercover operatives also there. They black motorcycle jacketed, pimpled face giant sitting next to me kept saying “Kill the Jews, Kill the Jews” while nudging me in the ribs. My reply, “Anything you say friend”. Probably a local cop I didn’t know from the old days.

The threats to Jews are real but more so in Iran, the Soviet Union, France, England, Belgium, Netherlands and of course, Israel than in America, are haven’t you read the papers recently?

While we need eternal vigilance against extremists and extremism, we should not make an epidemic out of a few incidents and losers. America is NOT Nazi Germany 1933 or Austria Angschluss, 1938 (where my friend was beaten by Eichmann’s SS goons on a regular basis).

I come from a Holocaust devastated family so don’t lecture me on “threats”. I know who the enemies are. I’ve lost friends and children of friends to PLO/Hebollah terrorism, NPA assassins in the Philippines, and attempted killings by KGB agents in Vienna (1956) and Stockholm (1980’s). Been the recipient of threats myself.

Welcome to the real world. It’s a rough place but if you are rationally prepared, you can usually deal with it.

Your minimizing this real threat speaks volumes .....

Your ability to highlight the huge number of 400-800 twitter-likes without breaking up into laughter is what really speaks volumes.

No. Sorry, there’s still Zechariah 14 to finish up.

So the problem for the six million is that they were not better prepared?

No one here supports any anti-Jewish programs or holocaust or anything like that.

At the same time folks can be wondering why the only mass slaughter of folks in the last 100 years we are supposed to care about is the holocaust or constantly fear its return. No one who is a NAZI is socially acceptable, but extreme leftists and open Marxists are. The latter two folks are much more dangerous today, yet all we are supposed to care about is a philosophy that has been discredited for 75 years. Why should the irrational fears of 2% of the population dicate the policies of 98 %? That is a fair question.

Further the idea that folks who hold bad thoughts (neo-nazis) should be designated criminals and terrorists without a trial is exactly what the NAZIs did. Also who exactly is going to determine what is a thought crime? How about the freedom of speech thingy in the constitution? A sane person cannot fail to notice the folks who want to be in charge are leftist-communists and radical Marxists, the exact same folks who killed something like 60~80 million folks in the late century. Ahhh...no thanks.

I understand the fears of Jewish folks, but really, this is not Russia in 1896, nor Germany in 1936. In over 50 years of life I have never run into a Nazi in the US. I am sure there are a few neo-Nazi losers but they do not even approach 0.1 % of the population. They have no power and if they commit a crime should be punished for the crime. If Jewish folks expect our entire system of English law to be overturned to make them emotional secure over a imaginary threat, well, they are making themselves enemies of the constitution and will ultimately manufacture the hostility they are so worried about.

Something to ponder.

Muslims are the big threat to Jews and Jews are leaving France because of it.

Yet Jews consistently want more Muslim immigration. Makes no sense.

I assume the “Nazis” on 4chan and that traffic in any right circles are shills — left wing plants meant to derail topics and bring doubt to the legitimacy of a conversation.

Sort of like David Duke. Duke was a Democrat - as were all southern racists - until he ran for political office. He has no following or relevancy EXCEPT he serves the purpose of equating Republicans with Nazis. Because of that he still gets national news coverage.

Those who recognized the real intentions of the Nazis left Germany, including some people I knew. Others thought, like so many, that they were “good Germans” and nothing would happen to them.

In my book (I was the editor and a chapter contributor) “Remembering the Holocaust: From Then To Now”, Agudas Achim Congregation, 1995, we had a family that still has two WW One German award certificates of the Iron Cross, 3rd Class, to two Jewish German soldiers. One was killed in action; the other was beaten to death by the Nazis in 1933 though he was a well known community leader.

Another friend’s father had to get rid of his WW 1 rifle souvenir because any Jew caught with a weapon in Germany in 1938 was sent to Dachau. My friend’s father was sent there anywhere on another charge and was only saved, according to the family story, by his family producing his WW1 service certificate (there are all kinds of stories about whether this was an effective get-out-of-jail ticket or just an urban legend, re Hitler’s birthday and the issuing of these certificates).

Other friends in the book fled to the mountains of Austria and tried to get into Switzerland but were either turned back or were turned over to the Germans. Some Swiss guards turned a blind eye and let others slip in.

When someone writes a book like “Mein Kampf” and related Nazi theology, blaming the Jews for everything under the sun, as a relatively intelligence Jew, I would “get the hell out of Dodge ASAP”.

Homey knows when the shit is about to hit the fan. Some law enforcement intell people once saved my ass from a planned beating by the Left if I had attended a meeting in an undercover capacity. I DIDN’T GO TO IT. Still around after 47 years from that date.

If someone warns you about danger, listen to them. They are not doing is just to hear themselves talk.

Too many of our people didn’t listen and died, including all of my grandmother’s remaining sisters, brothers, their children and possibly grandchildren in Lemberg/Lvov, probably in the sand pits on the outskirts of town, by firing squads.

NEVER AGAIN!

Fact is we’re welcome in a nation for about 200-250 years tops, then it gets ugly.

The left and the right don’t want us in their Christian nation anymore.

“The left and the right don’t want us in their Christian nation anymore.”

When left and right forget what “Christian” means, then — yeah, that’ll happen. But among the wise who understand what Christian means, the statement is NOWHERE close to true.

I won’t go deep theologically, but snag a copy and dig into Romans chapters 9 to 11.

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+9&version=CJB

THAT is the orthodox Christian take on Jews and Judaism, and it’s explained by an extremely zealous Benjamite member of the sect of the Pharisees who was steeped in the finest details of The Law; a former Christian-hater extraordinaire who’d been on a blood mission to wipe out these Jesus followers wherever they could be found, until something revolutionary happened to him, and all of his zeal turned 180-degrees, and he became the foremost preacher of the Jesus whose followers he formerly sought to eradicate.

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+9&version=CJB

How can true Christianity despise the Jews when Jesus of Nazareth, who is regarded by them as Messiah was a Jew, a true descendant of Abraham? When the earliest followers were ALL Jews? When the foremost expositors of the faith traced the nature of that Christian faith back to the pre-Law faith of Abraham who believed ADONAI and it was credited to him as righteousness?

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=galatians+3&version=CJB

There were, and are, misguided people who think themselves Christian and also — for whatever wrongheaded reason — do not esteem Jews, but the word of The Almighty to Abraham yet stands eternal: “I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse anyone who curses you; and by you all the families of the Earth shall be blessed.”

THAT is what real Christians believe.

Holocaust Round One is over, just as our first Civil War is over. The democrats are working hard to bring both back for Round Two.

Free speech is what it is. Nazis ban thought crimes and unpopular speech, but in the United States, we have measures to protect such thoughts and speech. Take it or leave it.

When conduct rises to the level of criminal harassment, it is dealt with as well as any other crime. There is zero proof or indication, that I know of, that the authorities turn a blind eye towards illegal intimidation or harassment against Jewish people, compared to such illegal conduct against Americans of any other religious persuasion. If you have proof that criminal harassment of Jewish Americans is ignored by law enforcement, please present it.

P.S. "facing off" online is a pretty poor way to measure how real a threat is. How many of those so-called neo-nazis encountered online are simply anti-social 12 year olds, typing whatever they think will draw a reaction? Again, the golden measure is to what degree mean words translate into real-life crime or violence.

>>Anti-semitism has risen 86 percent in the first quarter of 2017.

And when they call for restrictions on the First Amendment, while ignoring the real and systematic anti-semitism found on college campuses they will create more “anti-semitism” which is actually just disgust with the lies and hypocrisy of the Jewish Left in this country.

Does that 86% figure include the hoax swastikas?

No one is "hiding behind" the First Amendment, which is one of the underpinnings of this nation. I'd note that real world restrictions on speech in the US are largely applied to the political right. And in the context of the article, supporters of Israel. Neonazis may be vile, but I can't think of any groups which remotely approach being designated terror groups. Not to say it couldn't happen as it has with radical Islam and supporters in the US, but restricting free speech won't prevent that, rather will make it harder to respond.
