North Korea Threatens To Strike US Aircraft Carrier To Show 'Military's Force'
Fox News ^ | April 23, 2017

North Korea threatened Sunday to sink a U.S. aircraft carrier to demonstrate its military prowess as two Japanese navy ships joined a U.S. strike group for exercises in the Philippine Sea.

"Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a U.S. nuclear powered aircraft carrier with a single strike," according to North Korea's ruling Workers Party's newspaper, the Rodong Sinmum.

The paper also likened the USS Carl Vinson to a "gross animal" and said a strike on the carrier would be "an actual example to show our military's force."

Our Destroyers can fire over the little country. One on each side and they are toast.

“So it’s ok to blow them up anyway?”

well, Yeah sure why not! If they’re going to be decomm’ed anyway then that’s definitely an option to consider. Let them be an artificial reef to provide protection for a diving destination. It might be engineered to create a beach where pretty girls can run and play topless volleyball. People would visit the sunken vessel for decades and decades. I think some people love those ships so much that they choose to have their ashes sealed and put in the hull by divers.

That’s what you meant right?

Dear Tubby,

Spitballs will not sink an American aircraft carrier.

I am pretty sure that system is not ship born. The navy develops different systems than the army or air force, oweing to space considerations.

Their serious anti-ship weapons are their submarines, one of which not too long ago sank the South Korean warship the Cheonan.

And with all the other submarines out there, our aircraft carrier fleets need to make it abundantly clear any non-US submarines that approach them, no matter from whom, are subject to being sunk with no further notice.

No warning shots.

Referring to the "Lard a**", I like "Crisco Kim" better, LOL.

What your nephew is telling you is exactly true. I was active in the 1970’s, we trained so that we could knock out one of our own cruise missles with the first generation SM-1. That is very difficult, not impossible. One thing about our navy, training, training, and then some more training! The possibility of the NORKS sinking a carrier, very slim chance.

I would love to send him an email asking him a question, “How many of your subs do you hear from lately?”

The reason is because they’re remarkably difficult to sink for reasons that are classified.

Might one say it's compartmented information?

They don’t always know about subs.

A few years back the Chinese surfaced a sub inside a carrier group, nobody saw it til then. Diesel electric is quiet.

The point is, nothing is invincible, and we should not underestimate anyone.

“If there is to be a war, it is desire of the United States that Japan strike the first blow.”

Is the Carl Vinson CVBG a mobile Pearl Harbor being dangled before the North Koreans? Only this time, the United States is more than able to strike back immediately and with overwhelming force.

The North Koreans, like the Iranians, don’t seem to realize that having nuclear weapons endangers them more than not having them. Without them, there is no existential threat being posed to the nuclear armed adversary and, no matter how provocative their activities are, use of counterforce nuclear weapons cannot be justified - especially to the larger global community of nations. Once they have the nuclear weapon and the means to deliver it to their adversary’s territory, the threat can be deemed existential and use of nuclear weapons -perhaps even preemptively - can be justified.

This focus on the power of the weapon is akin to a juvenile fixation and is a liability to any government. It is particularly dangerous to totalitarian regimes that exclude or punish constructive criticism. Lacking the counterbalance of a strongly presented argument in dissent, it’s deliberations and decisions are being conducted in an echo chamber filled only with voices of synchopants.
