Family friendly isn't exactly the first thing to come to mind when you think of Hooters.
But the company, which is opening more than 30 new outlets across Asia, plans to change that — with the help of a new image.
According to Neil Bailey, the president of Hooters Asia, he wants the new stores in the region to have a "family restaurant experience."

This post is my exact experience !
I’ve been to a Hooters twice. The first time was with a biking group, the second time was with my dad (Which wasn’t as horrible as far as the company I kept). The food is horrible.
Looking at scantily clad women isn’t my idea of a good time.
Well the way the fabric of the uniform grips the (fill in the blank) and accentuates the (fill in the blank), you wonder what’s up with that, if they are trying to deny that the waitresses are supposed to be attracting certain attention.
We went to the Hooters in Fort Myers Beach, FL. The food was OK. My take away was I was glad they had electronic cash registers or I would be waiting for a long time to get my correct change.
Twin Peaks made a corporate decision last year to switch to less-revealing outfits. Results: fewer customers. One of their CEOs bought back several stores and switched back to the old outfits. Results: Business is never better and the girls are happier because they’re making money again. Most are in college trying to finance their student loan debt.
Essentially, if you tone down the outfits, the places are no different than Appleby’s or Chili’s where you pay just as much to be served by less-attractive women or gay men. The food is about the same (in some cases, worse).
But, it’s all about branding. If you’re a “breastaurant”, toning down won’t help your branding. Better to just rename the stores and start again with new design, decor, etc. As what was said upthread, Playboy removed the nudity and didn’t become any classier - they just killed their business - because they didn’t pay attention to what their clients wanted.

We went maybe 4 or 5 times in our 20s.
I’ve been to Perkins 100s of times easily.
And they all did go out of business in 4 to 6 years.
I wonder in what areas they stay open.
I wouldn’t go in my 30s or older.
And my wife’s odd that way. If I told her I felt like going to a strip joint, shed say “be home at 11” :) Can’t touch though. I never went anyway.
Maybe last time was a bachelor party in my early 30s
At 49, I’ve no desire to pay to watch women I can’t touch strip down.
At least in the late teens and 20s, there was a SMALL chance of getting a gal to go out with you at Hooters, and me and one friend met one girl each there. Had a few laughs

As for women of the night, my wife is away for six days right now and the only woman of the night I want to see is the pizza delivery driver who happens to be a girl.
Honestly I’ve never understood why some women are such aversion to their husbands going to a strip club, because honestly if your goal is to pick up someone for a one nighter, you are going to find far more success at just your local meat market than you are likely to pick up a stripper... though yes, some strippers engage in prostitution, reality is, if you are just looking to cheat, odds are far higher at your local bar than the strip club.
I think its they don’t have a clue what really goes on there... at least at any reputable place, you really aren’t doing much of anything out of line unless you want thrown out.
People watching at a strip club is amusing... there is always at least one guy, usually younger, up at the stage, jaw dropped all agape, mesmerized staring into the dancers vagina like he’s never seen one before.. or like it holds all the answers of existence. That always gives me a chuckle.
Have had many discussions with many dancers over the years, I usually sit in the back and people watch when I wind up there... not that I don’t enjoy an attractive young female body, but really, whats the allure of looking at something you can’t touch? Anyway for some reason I almost always wind up with one or more of them realizing I am not looking for a dance, or their typical clientele and have some interesting conversations with them. Which I honestly never quite understand because if they are talking with me and its obvious they aren’t getting cash out of me, they are turning down working the rest of the room.
Now, if you’ve ever been in a male strip club, those women get away with murder... long story behind how I know this.. but lets just say any man behaved the way women routinely did when men were the ones stripping, they’d be on the street likely with a few broken bones. Women are pigs.

My wife isn’t and never was but I’ve dated ones that were.
My mother and aunt never were, but the women from the 20s and 30s and even early 40s still had class.
Women act like men now for all effects and purposes.
My mom got hit in her car by a 22 year old girl. The axle was crushed in. On a side street!!!
Thank God mom’s ok but the car is totaled.
They drive as fast as, curse as much as, and sleep around more than, most men these days.
Service was good, and the wait staff was attractive, I won't lie.
Made a mistake during the week of Valentine's Day...lol. They "celebrate" by having "Lingerie Week", and I was a bit uncomfortable. My daughter worked as a waitress during college, and she didn't think it was a big deal. I saw one dad who took a picture of his teenage son with their waitress, I'm sure the kid showed it off to his friends at school.
I also noticed the presence of uniformed policeman at the entrance, but I learned that had more to do with MMA on TV that night. Brings out a different audience than usual.
I often eat low carb and I travel a lot, so it can be tough. Hooters has unbreaded wings and they are everywhere. So i go there a couple of times a year. For the food. Did you get thrown out of a Hooters once or something? You seem to take it personal.
Nah, I don’t think its a generational thing... Women are pigs.. but they are discrete pigs... they save their piggishness usually for when they are only around women in certain environments. And the male strip club is one of those environments.... Touching the dancers is expected almost demanded by the female clientele at male strip clubs... etc etc etc...
My only guess that so many women are averted to a man going to a strip club is because they thing what goes on at a male strip club is what goes on at a female strip club and honestly, unless the place is well below board, you won’t see anything close to what you see at a strip club for women that you see at a strip club for men.
Unbreaded wings are at nearly ever bar on the planet and usually are better, but if you are the road and don’t know the area, fine hit a hooters, but if you are in an area where you know the restaurants available, hooters, and all the other breastaurants are meh food...
Yea, those folks that take their kids to places like that... well lets just say, highly doubt their kids are going to wind up being supreme court justices. I would never take my family to a place that’s basically a T&A show... and wonder highly about those who do.
The current uniforms seem to encourage family GROWTH.

I had a neighbor who worked at Hooters for a while. She was of Argentine lineage and a total smoking hot babe! Her father was a doctor and had cut her allowance because of her outrageous spending so she said I will show you and got a job at Hooters which sent him into high earth orbit. She didn’t last long there and ended up at a strip club and last I heard she owned a bar/strip club.
I haven’t seen her in years but every time I run into her she is always friendly and sweet and pretty as ever. She looked smoking in the Hooters uniform!
Yeah, those are actually nursing bras under there.
The only reason they can do this rebranding in Asia is that the word "hooters" just doesn't spark any guilty pleasure in another culture. So they can keep the strange foreign word and adapt the restaurant to their more modest culture, where huge boob enhancements aren't as much of a thing.

Yeah I used to be a bouncer at a sleazy one in brooklyn and even there, there were no prostitutes, maybe one or two, and you could get a lap dance but you could touch
a bouncer would watch the semi private rooms

Two years top they are back to the old unis or their out of business.
Those MMA nights are a wild crowd. Waitstaff hates them because one or two people will sit at the table the entire night and only order beer so you see a non-churning crowd getting gradually more drunk and violent as the evening progresses.
The establishment makes a good payday but the servers generally have a busy and unrewarding night.
