Two weeks after laying off 131 employees without notice and closing its module plant in Michigan, one of the largest U.S. solar manufacturers has filed for bankruptcy.

BTW, this is the third solar company within the last month that has gone bankrupt - how many more before liberals will admit it does not work?
Where are my free solar panels? As a dividend for tax based subsidies.
Remember the liberal congressional staffer who railed against the laws of physics and said that Obama could alter them with an executive order.
Will Tesla survive?

Solar proponents love articles like this that I linked. The article does not mention the billions in loans per solar facility or the cost of solar power at the wall socket.
I have people tell me, “But look at Germany! 30% of their power comes from solar!”, and when I point out that German electricity costs 25 cents per kwh (as opposed to about 8 on average in USA), their enthusiasm is not dampened in the slightest.
IMO, not unless they get the MSRP for their cars down to $16,000 per. Until then, they will only sell to rich liberals and rich techie people who only drive them on Sundays and to the church.
I think Tesla is a different case. They have something close to a 12 month backlog of car orders. They could stand on their own 2 feet if Uncle Sugar would just cut the cord.
Agreed that Tesla needs to normalize their prices, but probably won’t. Have you sat in one? They are quite opulent and hi-tech. If I could afford to buy one, I would. My only concern is the longevity of their batteries. If they succeed as a company, auto battery recycling will be a boon business.
Telsa sells batteries and they attach them to a car.
Solar is not part of Tesla’s current business. They announced the solar roof concept a month or two ago but have not taken any orders or announced any pricing, so as you probably know, the answer is pretty obvious.
There’s a new sheriff at Department of Energy.
Blame this failure on Obama.
How many billions of dollars did Obama swindle us taxpayers out of with his clean energy lies and scams?
“Will Tesla survive?”
Pull out all government subsidy/favor and it collapses by midnight.
Musk recently merged his losing Solar City mega company into Tesla, before it went bankrupt, so Tesla is in solar panels in a bigly way!
Telsa is making solar-collector roof tiles, thus eliminating the need for those ugly roof panels.

This is what the panels on my house look like. I don't consider them ugly at all, I consider them "No utility bill".
Solar is expensive, not just the cells but all the other equipment, especially the battery if you have a worthwhile battery backup. By the time you add a generator large enough to charge the battery you can easily have 40G's however U$ will give you 1/3rd of that back. This is if you are willing to do "ALL" the labor yourself, it is substantial.
In my state, the electric company has to take all my extra electricity and hold it for me and give it back to me with no charge. Since I have 12KW on the roof (actually 11.7) and I get 5 or 6 hours a day which is over 60KW and my average use is under 40 I have a substantial buffer. If there is a storm I can use the battery for a week or so if there is no sun and if I'm not using the A/C I can get by for about 2 weeks. Then I just run the generator for several hours every other day to charge the battery until things are back to normal or there is sunshine.
It is a lot of work, but when you get old what else you gonna do? :)
By the way that's me flying the drone in the picture.
With that size home I expect the savings is substantial.
I have a semi-efficiency apartment here so figure one panel would do it all...
Excellent. Fine if you are in an area that makes solar worth while [the expense]
Say, who is that cutey in the bikini, over the hedgerow?
