Look at it this way- it’s a win-win either way. If you want to torture someone, have a kid sing for them(Annie-Tomorrow, Tomorrow!!)So, point Trump. If, being an Oriental who finds all things childish charming, the visiting President was enchanted=big point Trump. Grandfather-most powerful man on the planet showing off precocious granddaughter=understandable. Imagine the Carters or Clintons trying to do the same with their daughters...ugh!

Ordinarily I’d agree with you, but in this case the kid is already a huge internet sensation in China with this song in Mandarin. Tens of millions of hits. So the Chinese are very interested in her and moved that she is learning Mandarin. This is popular with the Chinese public.
Good move for bilateral relations.

I seem to recall from long ago, maybe it was Nixon on a state visit to China being sung to by young children. It’s really not Unheard of regardless of the countries or heads of state involved.
And here we have the 5YO grand daughter of the President serenading the Chinese President in his native tongue, a difficult language to begin with, especially for westerners.
I think the gesture was understood and appreciated.
