Commentary: A new J.D. Power study finds Surface buyers are happier than their iPad counterparts. They're younger and prefer Microsoft's design.
Have you noticed a certain giddiness in some of your friends lately?
I'm thinking about the ones who use a Microsoft Surface.
I only ask because J.D Power has just emitted its US Tablet Satisfaction Study and it declared that Surface owners experience deeper sensations of satisfaction than iPad buyers.
Apple fanpersons might turn pale when they learn the main reasons for this greater Surface joy are, according to the Power people, "its top rankings in the features and styling & design factors."

The 128 GB MacBook is also $1299. And do we really want to talk about detachable touchscreens?
I agree and, clearly, they didn’t contact me. The Surface is a clunky, temperamental quasi-Laptop that does little well. I have to restart it numerous times due to it’s finicky touchscreen that works sometimes and fails often. Poorly crafted.
Because JD Power included the entire line of MS Surface devices in its comparisons to reach its conclusions.
Where is the cellular connectivity of the MS Surface Pro 4?
SHEESH! I just love it when someone who does not use a device, tries to tell us who do use a device all the shortcomings of the device. Who ever said I use SIRI to dictate my writing? SIRI is not the only means of dictating on a Mac or an iOS device. You can just click on the microphone on the keyboard and start dictating.

Obviously you missed reading the post where he was comparing a $329 ipad to a $2000 Surface book to get to ‘multiple times’ more expensive ...

READ WHAT IT SAYS, TexasGator; it's quite simple.
You have to UPGRADE from the M3 processor in the low end MS Surface Pro to an Intel i5 version costing $1299 (now selling for $999 on discount w/4GB of RAM at Microsoft), before it "blows away the iPad." Your $799 and $999 package M3 versions won't cut it. . . and that is what that "Cherry picked" chart was showing. You have to install a 3.0GHz Intel i5 BEFORE your Surface Pro 4 will beat a $599 iPad Pro, or, surprise, even the new 9.7 inch $329 iPad.
There's no "cherry picking" going on here, as there are more bench marks out there that show the same thing.
In fact, the new iPhone 7 and 7 plus with Apple's A10 processors would BEST that 3GHz i5! The iPhone 6s was already out performing the Surface Pro 4 on this benchmark with an A8X in it. The iPad Pro has a two year old A9X. They are all desktop capable processors. . .
So. . . I also pointed out that the MS Surface Pro are a more expensive solution that the iPads. The JD Power award was comparing custooghmer satisfaction of the Apple iPad against the Microsoft Surface. . . that's inclusive. JD Power used the entire line-up of both companies. I will grant that the $329 iPad was not available in 2016, but this is the 2017 year award, and Apple was selling the $279 iPad mini.
The $799 plus keyboard at $129, of the low end MS Surface Pro is a factor of more than 3 ¼ times the cost of the iPad mini. That, by definition "multiple times."
And that was published almost FOUR YEARS AGO. . . grasping at ancient straws, are we?
We've been discussing the current models, not the past models. Is cellular connectivity available for the MS Surface Pro 4? No? It is not listed on any of Microsoft's specs for that model anywhere. Why not?
I see a lot of complaints on the forums about that lack. Why would Microsoft fail to include such a thing on a mobile device and why would a mobile device lacking such a necessary function beat out a device that DOES have it in customer satisfaction????
As I said, Microsoft's own website customer's rate the MS Surface at only 3.9 stars out of 5. . . with 166 five star ratings, 37 four star, 13 three star, 21 two star, and 50 one star. Look it up for yourself. . . here:
Hilarious! There's no way this product can come up to the 97% plus customer satisfaction rating the Apple iPad enjoys when Microsoft cannot even publish better than a 58% five star rating on their own web site. . . and a 71% when counting the four stars as well.
That no way near that justifies the JD Power numbers.

I lived without the keyboard cover from March to December of 2016. It has an on-screen keyboard in the user’s choice of three configurations. I like the keyboard. And if I need to take a screenshot in portrait mode, it flips back behind and out of the way.

LOL! The MS surface 4 pro package with I5 is $999.

Mustang GT is multiple times the price of a Fiat 500. What is your point?
For real, professional, tasks a laptop and a desktop are a must. It is impossible to type a 100 page term paper on a touch screen.
Side note: glad to see the competition. Because we consumers lose when there isn't competition. Also, I am not a big fan of MS phones and tablets. But their desktops and laptops (the OS and third party hardware) have Apple beat by a mile for the best value and broadest support.

The Surface Book looks like an interesting product. I might try one if I could ever run Linux on it... :)
