One story I heard was that Gene Roddenberry thought he had two copies of “The Cage” in full colour and original sound and as a result, gave one copy to NBC to have chopped up and voices altered to make the two part episode “The Menagerie”. It turned out though, that the copy he gave was in fact the only one he had (in addition to a rough black and white copy that he used at Star Trek conventions over the next number of years.).
It was not until the mid 1980s that a colour negative was discovered in the Paramount archives that a restored colour version was able to be seen. It still would have been nice though to have been able to have seen the very original version of “The Cage” that the test audiences got to see with the original, unedited dialogue and the Talosian Keeper’s voice unaltered (this was later done, of course, due to Malachi Throne being in “The Menagerie”).
The Changeling, especially the last two minutes. Even Spock is impressed!

Fortunately, the transporter worked in the nick of time.
My wife and I, and 15-year old daughter watch Star Trek every Saturday night, at 9:00 sharp.
I am just thrilled my 15-year old (or any teenager for that matter) digs the original Star Trek shows.
(I have to admit, sometimes I watch Wonder Women, which comes on just before Star Trek on METV - mainly just to ogle Linda Carter. Is that wrong?)

...on a list of the worst Star Trek episodes.
I seem to remember an episode where the crew was on a planet fighting against drone like weapons that learned behavior and were autonomous and out of human control. Am I remembering correctly or was this some other show?
Interestingly, the recently NASA reported M-Drive may well be a warp drive. (early 2015 attacks against this possibility —in 2016 have turned to a wait and see position.)
