Paranoid New Yorkers now have a speedy way out of the city should disaster strike.
Chris Dowhie, co-owner of Plan B Marine, runs a marine evacuation service which advertises the fastest possible way out of Manhattan.
Whether its power failure, blackouts, grid failure, bad weather, flooding or a terrorist attack, Dowhies clients want to be prepared for doomsday.

How does he do with tidal waves?
Best escape is to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye....
An EMP will knock out the boat engines and navigation controls.
Everybody row!
Makes me want to watch “I am Legend” again. :)
They need to bring in Snake Pliskin.
Well, let’s look at previous disasters that befell the NYC area to use that as a crystal ball to predict the future...
Airspace closure - nope, you’re not taking a helicopter off the island unless you’re a public official.
Pier closures - Oh, right, if you’re not taking one of the authorized public ferries, you’re not leaving by water.
Subway closures - Nope, not getting out that way.
Bridge closures - Yep, those are closed too, they might be targets, so you just hunker down where we told you to, right in the middle of the target zone.
Smart businessman who hopefully has his own plan B for shielding all his assets when the SHTF and he can’t deliver any of the promised services that people have been paying him to provide for years. (and anyone care to bet that there’s a rider on the contract that specifically excludes providing services in the event of terrorism, riots or disasters?)

Nothing in the world could make me do that. I’d rather drown in a tidal wave.
Just the beginning. It’s relevant to the story. :)
How about Omega Man? :-)
"HEY! That boat is MINE!!!!"
(ker-lick)....."I don't think so....."
Best escape is to not live there in the first place...................
Or The Last Man on Earth?
Short of owning or otherwise having a helicopter at your disposal and a helipad on the roof, I don’t see how a boat service is going to be of much use to anyone not on the immediate waterfront if SHTF time rolls around again in Manhattan. Maybe passenger blimps need to make a comeback, lol. There’s some guy in Massachusetts selling personal mini-blimps but they’re really not all that compact, with a rigid frame so that’s not a possibility.
Ted Kennedy would have just swum across the river(s).

Same movie much better - never needed a remake.
When the SHTF, living in NYC will be like the movie WWZ.............
Fear the Walking Dead Ping.
This reminds me of a documentary I saw about the fall of Saigon. When the SHTF, Americans and selected Vietnamese were supposed to hop on special buses and go to the airport for evacuation.
It never occurred to anyone that the roads are impassable once the SHTF.
