Life is like the plains of Africa. Whether you are the lion of the gazelle when the sun comes up you better be running.
What are yours?
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
― Robert A. Heinlein
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Some days chicken. Some days feathers.
Yours was close. lol
Am I who I say I am?
If I can’t laugh at myself, someone else will do it.
This sounds really depressing, but it is definitely not.
“We are not on the train to Auschwitz yet.” This is a thought to remind myself that, whatever is going wrong, it isn’t catastrophically hopeless. The children are not about to be shot. Etc. Maybe this only works for children/grandchildren of Holocaust survivors.
My father lived his life with this one:
“We are all in the same boat.” He escaped Nazi Germany at age 7 and didn’t get his parents back until he was 16. He was never afraid or intimidated by anyone as an adult. He worked very hard and had a winning personality. Everyone felt he was their friend. He was very successful and he always treated his fellow humans like brothers. He often told me his line to give me courage to speak up and get what I needed, and make friends everywhere.
And from Dennis Prager, his rule for happiness: “Prepare for / plan to prevent the worst.” If the best happens, fantastic. Be as ready as you can be for the worst. Sounds depressing too, but it’s not.
*Any job worth doing, is worth doing well*
See, I don’t like this one. It doesn’t work for me. If the floor could use a sweeping, it’s better to just quickly do a slam bang job than to put it off because you don’t have time for a thorough serious vacuuming. That’s just me.
1. Knowledge is its own reward.
2. My f**k it valve is stuck in the open position.
3. OUCH!
Keep it Simple Stupid. Most of life’s hard times come because you’ve done something to complicate it.
One of my favorites too, sjmjax.
I could have easily rattled off a dozen “Time Enough For Love” quotes.
Hmmmmmmmmm. Then you won’t like our olde family motto:
“God give me
Plenty of work,
and the strength to do it” :)
People: I have no control over other people, places or things, only over myself.
Business:. You can make money or you can make excuses, but you can’t make both.
War: Nuke em till they glow, then shoot em in the dark.
Life: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13 (by the wisest man that shall ever live, Solomon)
Make it happen. - Thank you 1SGT Edward Naylor for these three words that have driven my life
The “Golden Rule”.
Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it!
Jeremiah 29:11, alternately, “Life is tough; it’s tougher when you’re stupid.” -John Wayne
There's never enough time to do it right, but there's always time to do it again.

Where there’s life there’s hope.
Impatience is a spirit poison; anger is like a stone hurled into a hornet’s nest.
