So this happened. I have a hypothesis. Gay people often get away with murder. Certainly behavior that straight men could never get away with.
So my producer and I put that to the test. Behaving the exact same way and even repeating the exact same phrases to women at the mall. The only difference? One of us is gay. One straight. The reactions are, well... entirely expected.

I was once in a shop on Melrose with a friend who was trying on clothes and the clerk was SO gay that he literally had the hem of his t-shirt pulled through the collar like a halter top. My friend, a very cute little blonde, comes out of the dressing room wearing a wraparound blouse and Gay Clerk says, “Oh honey, you’ve got it tied wrong!” Proceeds to untie the shirt, open it so that her bare breasts are exposed (no bra) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORE and then reties it. Both of us were so shocked that no one said anything for a moment, and then he says, “Your boobies are so cute; it’s like they just sprouted!” And she laughed!

I felt I could see the difference, maybe because I’m a woman. Some of the clues were subtle, but were there.
Maybe you shoulda used the word DESTROYS or BOMBSHELL!! to hawk it...
They certainly get away with hoaxing hate crimes against themselves. All the time.
