Both of you are correct. Nihilists have only one way to weaken/stop the President: destroy.

Flynn, Sessions, feet on couch, does not matter at all. Since the Russia fake news came out pre-election, and it caught on, they’re spending every minute combing through NSA records (of which they must have access to) looking for ammunition.

Trump gave them no ammunition last night, unexpectedly. So this. Doesn’t anyone believe Holder/Jarrett/Obama/Clinton/Podesta when they state openly they will “overthrow” the United States government? No, it is almost impossible, like the Jews in Germany who didn’t believe and were turned into lampshades.

My point is that Flynn dug his own hole. Even if the facts of the conversation were not damning in any way, what was a problem—in the President's eyes—is the fact that Flynn "misled" the VP. Flynn admitted as much. He was not as forthcoming as was required by the situation. It was an "unforced error".

So IMHO the President did what he thought was appropriate. I certainly don't think he allowed the Media to make the decision for him. If a trophy was rendered, the President was the one wielding the scalping knife, not the Media...

My point has been proven. They are using the exact same tactic to try to get Sessions that they used for Flynn. You think they were going to stop at Flynn? At the time, Michael Moore declared he was the first as they worked their way up to Trump. The media would like to remove as many of the Trump loyalists as they can from his circle.

I’m not the only person that said this by the way. High profile Trump supporters like Mike Cernovich have said this and even Rush Limbaugh said they shouldn’t have given them his scalp.

Flynn, a Democrat, didn’t level with Pence during their interview. How can you stand by a person who wasn’t forthcoming in a one-on-one with the rep of his future boss?

Because letting Flynn go led directly to this as most of us thought it would. All that should have been done is Trump telling Flynn not to do it again as nothing improper happened beyond the omission.

If this is true, then it’s terrible. Sessions was one of the really strong men in Trump’s cabinet.

Please take a deep breath. Not sure exactly what part of story you think is terrible...

1. That this story came out?
2. That sessions met with Russian government reps?
3. That he said “no” when asked specific questions as listed below?

Perhaps you can clarify...

It is unfortunate that the glow of President Trump’s speech is being darkened by more Fake News. However, this is not unexpected...sadly this may be SOP for the next 8 years.

Regarding the accusations:
Sessions was not part of the campaign, and he did not talk to the Russian government representatives regarding the election., which is what the nominating committee questions were focusing on.

Sessions was on various Senate Committees composed of members who spoke to representatives of foreign governments.

Regarding his answers:
If you have ever been deposed by opposing lawyers, your lawyer will tell you that that you are to say as little as possible, answer questions with “yes” or “no” answers, and answer narrowly. There are actually DVDs available to prepare people on how to answer questions when deposed.

Senate is full of lawyers, I am sure the nominees are advised to answer as I stated—just as I was by my attorney when I have been deposed.

Flynn never directly said he would overturn the sanctions. Even the NYT said the situation was “ambiguous” enough where Trump could keep him. I did a whole post on the situation here:

If he’s not an honest man, how could they know he hadn’t already done it again? I.e.: if you can’t take him at his word, how do you know he only misled the interviewer once in the initial questioning?

Sessions was a Senator. They meet with foreign diplomats all the time. This is a nothing burger.

I’ll maybe start to believe it, when someone other than the Washington Compost starts reporting it. Otherwise it’s just fake news, like everything else they do.

The issue wasn’t whether Flynn would overturn the sanctions. It was whether he’d discussed the sanctions. He said straight up that he had not. But he had; it was a lie.

Probably because he didn’t remember talking to the Russian ambassador about it. Remember that the CIA leaked the full tape of the call to the media and who remembers everything from every phone call? The facts are he made Pence look bad, but it appeared to be an honest mistake. Word is it was Flynn that made the call to resign and Trump urged him not to.

You’re half right. At first Flynn claimed he did remember what was discussed, and the sanctions were never mentioned. After that was shown to be untrue, THEN Flynn said he couldn’t recall:

‘one late December call with the ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, came on the same day the outgoing Obama administration issued sanctions on the Russian government for its attempted interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The incoming vice president, Mike Pence, appeared a few days later on CBS’s Face the Nation and was asked whether Flynn had discussed those sanctions with Kislyak. “I talked to General Flynn about that conversation and actually was initiated on Christmas Day he had sent a text to the Russian ambassador to express not only Christmas wishes but sympathy for the loss of life in the airplane crash that took place. It was strictly coincidental that they had a conversation. They did not discuss anything having to do with the United States’ decision to expel diplomats or impose censure against Russia,” Pence told host John Dickerson.

But former and current NSC officials told the Washington Post last week that what Pence had said wasn’t true. Through a spokesman Flynn began backing off his claim that he did not discuss the sanctions with Kislyak. Flynn’s explanation, privately to the administration and then publicly to the press, was that he couldn’t remember if he had mentioned sanctions.’
