There are many examples in Egypt where we can see that very advanced high technology once existed. To learn more about this, from my 4 trips to Egypt, check out this link: https://hiddenincatours.com/?s=egypt

Pyramid construction shows a development from the rather crude to the more sophisticated, not a sudden high level technology.
Likely the Nile Valley became a refuge for survivors of the desertification of the Sahara area, which was quite lush until 5000-6000 years ago. There may be much info about ancient Egyptian technology buried in the Sahara.
This scares me.
I hear ya, but it's only scary because the physical evidence points to the existence of an ancient parent culture that was more advanced than has ever been understood by our current civilization.
Of course, that upsets our established story of humanity's origins in major ways, which can be too far a stretch for some people.
We may never know who those advanced beings were, but there's no question that they were here at some point in the deep past.
I find the whole subject extremely intriguing.
I think the evidence is beginning to indicate that it happened in reverse, that is, the grandest, most enduring structures came first, which were then copied by ancient Egyptians, using crude and primitive methods.
All things being what they are, it is certainly reasonable for the builders to have been transients on this planet. Assuming that the equipment was not manufactured here certainly explains the lack of infrastructure to make it; and, why it would be best to pack it up when finished.
To my own way of thinking, I suspect civilization has risen and fallen many times on this odd planet. It is just irksome that more evidence cannot be found that would help us understand our history.
Ah, we just don't know crap about our past.
Waste cores from those bore holes have been found scattered all over Giza and other megalithic Egyptian sites. The tool marks on them match the tool marks inside the bore holes.
I don't think anyone paid much attention to them until the advent of modern core drilling technology. Only then did some people look and notice the obvious.
Who knows if we'll ever figure out this mystery, but there's a smoking gun in the rock, that's for sure.
I'm of the opinion that more than enough evidence has surfaced to piece together the true story of mankind's distant past, but the academic community being what it is, much (if not most) of that evidence has been suppressed or hidden from the public.
What we're left with, is the evidence in stone, staring us in the face, and defying us to simply look, and engage our God given powers of reason to explain it.
Like you, it's my personal belief that civilization has risen and fallen over and over on this planet. The ancient oral traditions of many cultures even speak of it, but of course it's all dismissed as myth by the academics.

I’m late to the thread and missed the fascinating discussion. Thanks for all the interesting information.
Something you both might find interesting are the books “Forbidden Archaeology”, and its condensed version “The Hidden History of the Human Race”, by Michael Cremo and Richard Thompson - https://www.amazon.com/Forbidden-Archaeology-Michael-Cremo-ebook/dp/B004LE7OHI/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1488156347&sr=1-1&keywords=forbidden+archeology
I recently ran across a fascinating book that I did buy, and am currently reading. Its called 'Dead Men's Secrets', by Jonathan Gray. In the book, he lists hundreds of examples of suppressed and little known evidence of ancient advanced cultures. Search his name on YouTube, and you can find lots of his interviews, too.
Here's a link to his book:
