Why do we have to know all the details about how our Navy SEALs are trained? Keep the enemy GUESSING!!
There have been numerous documentaries about Seal training. No secrets are revealed. Just enough to let you know that these guys are badass and you don’t want to mess with them.
.
No; I'm blinder than a bat without my eyeglasses, never even thought about it. However, the Navy used me to crew an LST that landed Seal Six one time, so hey, everybody does what they can!
I have completed some fairly rigorous training events in the Army, but no.
I went to Coronado on vacation years ago, put my feet in the water and I knew then and there that, if for some strange reason I applied for, and was selected for BUDS, I would not be able to pass the demands of water training.
Every nations’ special forces focus on extreme physical training and team building. That’s just the basics.
What’s special is tactics, intelligence, communications, equipment, global reach, support network - the whole package. Those are the things kept secret.
Don’t forget the creative writing course:

Took several attempts, and a bathroom break, but I finally made it through the video.
I’ve heard that SEAL training is the most rigorous and difficult training program known to man. It makes a regular military boot camp look like a walk in the park.
I’ve heard that many experienced navy men, experienced officers, who are proficient at what they do, fail and drop out of SEAL training. It’s supposed to be so tough that far less than half make it through.
I saw an hour long show about Ranger School. They showed parts from 3 phases, I think part was in Georgia mountains, it seems like part was in North Carolina and the last was at Eglin AFB.
I was an excellent athlete in college but after seeing that, I would not even try. Also would not try Seal training or Air Force Para Rescue. I would not even volunteer for Marine training for that matter.
Royal Marines used to be pretty tough. I don’t know about now. Marine Recon has always been tough. French Foreign Legion doesn’t mess around. The Gurkhas are pretty tough. Individually, I thought the Kenyan Rifles were amazingly tough men. One on one they weren’t someone to mess with. Tactically, they left something to be desired.
Of course, the Kamikaze Scots are the toughest:

As it turned out, about a third of my class of 20-22 would get their Ranger Tabs, over half of us got our jump wings.
BTW, this was during the month of November, almost guaranteed to get a case of hypothermia.
If I had gone to SEAL training I would break records that would be talked about for years: fastest to ring the bell to get out and only trainee to injure himself ringing the bell.
Things ain't what they used to be 'over there'.
My father made it through OCS (Officer Candidate School) and said it was grueling, but I imagine SEAL training is far more demanding. I probably couldn’t do it.. Mentally yes, physically no. But I am like a fish in the water!
The captain of our college track team was a Ranger during Vietnam. A few years ago, looked him up on the internet and sure enough he was a hero.
A pleasant guy and of course a distance runner.
The British SAS used to be pretty tough too.
99.9% of us wouldn’t make it past breakfast.
